Chris Lighty’s long time client 50 Cent has been vocal in his questioning of whether or not Lighty committed suicide. Therefore, at the request of Chris Lighty’s mother, 50 Cent hired his own private investigators to look into the death of Chris Lighty. Chris and 50 Cent have worked together for over 10 years and at the time of his death, Chris was handling various business ventures for 50.
In a recent interview, 50 Cent said the following:
“I still can’t make very much sense of it. The whole theory of him being in a financial strain would support why you would want to do something like kill yourself,” he explained to HuffPost Live host, Marc Lamont Hill. “It doesn’t make any sense to me, because that $5 million dollars that they said he owed the IRS, he didn’t owe the IRS $5 million at that point.”
“And I also loaned him a $1 million dollars, that people wouldn’t actually be aware of, that he paid back,” the rapper continued. “And after the actually time lines that he was supposed to pay it back, so he paid an additional $200,000 on interest on that. So having a $300,000 piece left is like having $3 dollars left…my communications with him right before he passed were like, he’s looking forward to things moving forward…it would feel like foul play to because of my actual interactions [with him].”
In other news, Chris Lighty’s will and Trust was revealed to the public and it shows a surprising revelation.
Except for a fund set aside for his children, the will says if he is survived by his wife, “I give my entire residuary estate, real and personal, to her.”
One of the country’s top attorneys, Arthur Aidala, said the will gives his wife a lot of power.
Lighty managed the careers of superstars like 50 Cent and Diddy and orchestrated multimillion-dollar deals. He died last month allegedly from a self-inflicted gunshot wound after an argument with his wife.
The will, drafted in 2007, provides a separate $1.6 million trust fund for his children.
Aidala said establishing that trust shows great care and planning, especially for a man who at that time was only in his late thirties.
Lighty was laid to rest earlier this month after a star-studded sendoff. But many of those who knew him still can’t it believe it was a suicide, as the New York City Medical Examiner ruled.
Dr. Michael Baden, a former New York City chief medical examiner, was called in by the family for a second autopsy. The results so far are inconclusive.
Sources are also confirming earlier reports that Chris Lighty was not in the extreme debt that was earlier reported. In fact, sources are relaying that Chris Lighty secured 50 Cent’s upcoming world tour.
So many questions but I’m sure they won’t get answered. Smh.
His wife just seems suspect to me…been saying it all along. Her story changed too much for my comfort.
Not to mention he was worth more dead than alive. I’ve been giving his wife the side eye ever since this story broke.
No disrespect, but I wish these people would just let this man rest in peace. Just because he didn’t seem “weak” enough to commit suicide, doesn’t mean he didn’t. I swear, black folks are some of the most ignorant people on the planet when it comes to suicide. They really think it’s a “weak person” thing, but it has nothing to do with that. Anyone can be taken to that place no matter how “strong” you would like to believe they are.
So are people thinking his wife just pulled the trigger herself? What did she do previously to make people question her motives like this?
