Fame is always supposed to come with perks. And the perks of being famous usually include immediate access to the most sought after night clubs and lavish industry events. And when it comes to celebrities, it’s always been understood that Alicia Keys is a certified A-Lister. And her husband Swizz Beatz has a lot of connections himself. So it came as a shock the other day when the couple was almost denied entrance to a rather exclusive event, simply because security had no clue whatsoever who they were.

Apparently, security was more concerned with bigger and more widely known celebrities to figure out who Swizz and Alicia were. This comes at a moment when many have already been speculating that Alicia’s star is fading, an opinion many have had since she started dating Swizz Beatz, who is now her husband and father of her son Egypt.

Here’s the report from New York Daily News:

Fame opens doors — but can’t always get you through them. Just ask Alicia Keys and her hubby, Swizz Beatz, who a source says “had a hard time getting inside” the Avenue A Soundcheck party at Toy in the Hotel Gansevoort on Monday night. The issue was “due to security not recognizing them” and a packed house that included Tyson Beckford, “a ton of models,” a performance by Roma! and a deejay set by Nima Yamini.

Ouch.

  1. So white people do not know who Swizz Beatz or Alicia Keys are? LOL!!! Somewhere, Mashonda is rollin’ laughing.

  2. I like Alicia but have a word of advice for her. If he’ll do it with you, he’ll do it to you. That’s one thing I know for sure.

  3. I had no idea about this. But it’s funny cause I have always felt like she was that kind of chick and that I just never felt right about her. My gut never lies.
