As we recently reported, Keyshia Cole had a little drama the other day when it was publicized that she was asked to be the opening act in her hometown for singer The Weekend. The R&B singer took to her Twitter account to make it clear that she was not happy that she was asked to be an opening act when she feels she has given so much back to her hometown of Oakland, California that she didn’t feel it was fair for the radio station hosting the event to even consider to not let her be the headline act. After it was apparent that Keyshia would not be performing and had pulled out the show, her fans took to their Twitter accounts to make this disappointment known to the singer.

Keyshia Cole than proceeded to rant on Twitter and accuse the radio station of being disrespectful for asking her to be the opening act to The Weekend.

Welp, it looks like the radio station sees things quite differently. In fact the station, 106 KMEL, even claims that Keyshia knew the entire time that she would not be the headline act but originally agreed to perform anyway. So they released a statement to TMZ suggesting that they were shocked that Keyshia would rant on Twitter when she’s allegedly know for the last couple of weeks that she would not be the final act:

“We were surprised to see Keyshia Cole’s Tweets the night of our show … as she was never scheduled to be the show’s final act. When we were notified a week before her performance that she planned to cancel, we immediately removed her name from all advertising and promotion and offered refunds to those fans who requested.”

In Public Relations language, it sounds like the station seems to be alluding that Keyshia’s recent rant on Twitter was nothing more than a publicity stunt.

  1. Didn’t K. Michelle pull the same exact stunt a month ago and they claimed then too that she knew she was opening up for Lyfe Jennings too even though she showed out and cancelled at the last minute? Come on ladies. This is a weak way to get attention.

  2. That was some low key shade. LOL. Oh well. She’s just doing what most celebs do on Twitter. They feel like they have to keep their name in your mouth.

  3. It’s true. They did pull her name and started advertising the artists replacing her. And even when they were promoting the concert they called her the special guest, not the headliner!
