Janet Hubert has absolutely no problems speaking her mind and making her opinions known, but her recent dragging of Wendy Williams was surely one that made headlines. Wendy is known for being one of the most cutthroat talk show hosts in the business, but Janet feels that doesn’t mean that gives her a pass to mention her name on the show. After actress Tatyana Ali came by and revealed she wasn’t so sure why the “Original Aunt Viv” was fired, Janet took to her BlogTalkRadio show and made it clear how she feels about Wendy as a person and as a talk show host. And according to Janet, she will never be Oprah. The Grio caught up with The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air actress recently, and she made it clear that she stands by the recent dragging she gave Wendy.

In part two of The Grio’s interview with Janet Hubert, she talked about what really went down with her exit from the legendary sitcom that helped pushed Will Smith to stardom. And according to Janet, she was let go from the show because she didn’t agree to the terms of the new contract they were offering her. She claims the show’s executives wanted her to sign a contract that would only confirm her for ten episodes, and they wanted her to agree to not to take on any projects on the side. That was a problem for Janet because she said ten episodes were not enough to keep her bills paid and they basically wanted to cut her salary in half. She also suggested that the new contract was most likely a result of some feuding that took place with her and others behind the scenes. Apparently people were trying to feed her lines she didn’t feel comfortable with either, and it sounds like they weren’t happy that she made the character a little stronger than they hoped for. But if she could say anything to Will Smith, Janet says she would tell him:

“I would say to him [Smith], we need to heal this. You’ve done some things, you’ve said some things, that were totally untrue and you know that they were untrue. I’ve said some things that I probably should have never said. But you’ve never heard them come from my mouth. Especially the TMZ thing last Christmas; my Mom passed away. So there I was again in the media getting beaten up…and you get tired. I’m tired. Aren’t you tired Will?”

Janet also claims Will and Alphonso Ribeiro (Carlton Banks) went around telling people lies about her character and suggested that things didn’t work out because she wanted to be the star of the show and was too difficult to work with. She says that those things are simply not true, and it has hurt her career. However, she does feel the media’s treatment of Will’s two children with wife Jada Pinkett-Smith may be karma:

“My heart breaks from some of the comments that people make about his children. And for the damage that you may have done to someone else, your children may suffer… for your legacy.”

  1. Yeah…sounds like they were trying to get her to quit. I believe she is hard to work with based off this interview. Lol.

  2. I remember after watching her on an episode of “Life After” on TVOne, I understood why she was fired. Her attitude is horrible.
