The Hip Hop community is known for being pretty close minded when it comes to homosexuality, and it’s always been pretty well established that the industry doesn’t make it easy for artists to come out of the closet. However, numerous artists are starting to speak out on these issues and give their opinions on it, and most recently, ASAP Rocky and Snoop Lion have made it clear that they feel it’s not fair that Hip Hop hasn’t managed to become accepting of homosexuals. In a recent interview with The Guardian, Snoop Lion says:

“Frank Ocean ain’t no rapper. He’s a singer. It’s acceptable in the singing world, but in the rap world I don’t know if it will ever be acceptable because rap is so masculine.

“It’s like a football team. You can’t be in a locker room full of motherf*cking tough-a*s dudes, then all of a sudden say, ‘Hey, man, I like you.’ You know, that’s going to be tough.”

If T-Pain’s recent tweets are any indication, it appears that he also feels the same way about Hip Hop’s treatment of homosexuals. The other day he took to his Twitter account to slam people who have been acting pretty ignorant around his gay male assistant. Apparently he noticed that men have been acting uneasy when dealing with him, as if they are nervous that he might try to make passes at them. T-Pain wasted no time in reminding said men that his gay assistant has standards and options just like anyone else. He tweets (read from top to bottom):

  1. Thank you! I’m gay and I hate that every straight man swears I want his a-s. Gay people do have standards. We don’t want every man/woman we encounter. Damn. Get over yourselves. And most of the time, we don’t have to make the first move anyway.

    1. LOL I was wondering the same thing! He used to be on top and on every hook. I think Future and Chris Brown’s new obsession with auto tune killed his career.

  2. Why in the world would people think that it would be strange for a straight man to feel uncomfortable around a man that they know is gay? That sounds pretty normal to me. I know that everyone now is trying to be politically correct, but, come on….let’s just keep it real…it can be uncomfortable. #just saying.

      1. So for you it is ok that straight men to feel uncomfortable around gay men….don’t forget that no long ago, I mean it still is , white people feel very uncomfortable around black people, cuz they’re violent, criminals, etc, etc…I’ve a lot of gay friends and they only flirt with someone that they’re 100% sure is into them….If we don’t like racism toward us, let not be prejudice against gay people, cuz we know how it feels……..

        1. I don’t know if it’s Ok or not, but it’s the truth. Too your point about white people feeling uncomfortable around Blacks, it’s not the same. You can see my color when I walk in the door, knowing that someone is gay requires self identification from that person (for the most part). Again, it may not be the popular view of this subject at this time, but it is real. Like it or not.
