Chris Brown has apologized on numerous occasions for assaulting his then girlfriend Rihanna on the night of the 2009 Grammys, but there’s still a lot of people who refuse to forgive the artist for the incident. It also doesn’t help matters much that Chris has been having lots of legal troubles ever since, and his most recent run ins with the law has many thinking he hasn’t changed much. And as a result of those views, the singer is always being protested against and now it appears he’s having troubles keeping sponsors from pulling out of his upcoming show in Canada. Chris is scheduled to perform at the Energy Rush concert in Canada, however one of the major sponsors Rogers Communications has decided to pull from the show because it doesn’t want to be associated with Chris Brown. Chris’ rep slammed the company for withdrawing its sponsorship and tells E! News:

“It’s a shame that some people are so short-sighted and uninformed. Chris is an award-winning artist whose goal is to inspire and entertain. He engages in many philanthropic endeavors to support his community and communities worldwide including the Jenesse Center Domestic Violence Intervention Program, Best Buddies, AIDS Project Los Angeles, Kids Wish Network, Get Schooled and Home Again.

“He’s just embarked on the Unity Campaign to bring people together despite their differences while promoting tolerance and forgiveness. Chris strives to learn from his past and to grow as a person, as we should all do. Chris is looking forward to being a part of the Energy Rush Concert Series.”

The company that actually put together the Energy Rush Concert, Series Drop Entertainment Group, is also standing behind Chris and released a statement confirming they are happy to have him perform despite the drop in sponsorship.

  1. I honestly don’t understand how white people are so quick to trash Chris for ONE INCIDENT, but they are putting George Zimmerman (murderer of an unarmed black teen, possible child molester, cop fighter, woman abuser) on a pedestal. They have their priorities all jacked up.

    1. When I read all the things George Zimmerman has done in the past, it hit me really hard how racist this country is. Black men are labeled thugs by the littlest things like having gold teeth and wearing a hoodie but it takes so much for a white man to be called a thug/criminal. Trayvon hasn’t molested someone, fought a cop, killed anyone or hit a woman. Yet, he’s the thug. I’m so over this racist country.

  2. The sponsor is dumb as hell. It was one incident. Let Chris live. There are worst people in the world. And that murderer GZ is walking the streets too? I don’t care about what Chris did anymore.

  3. People are doing way too much. They ought to be more angry at what just happened on Saturday night. A murderer got off for killing a teen who was minding his own business. Oh that’s right, he’s the wrong skin color. The world is a stupid place.

  4. Oh please. I’m so tired of people waving this crap in this man’s face. That was years ago and Rihanna even took him back SEVERAL times. Let it go already.

  5. So let me get this straight….white folks are still going to punish Chris for hitting Rihanna but George Zimmerman is a hero? I guess they just decided to ignore the fact that he hits women too. And he’s done way more dirt than that. Oh right, only black men can be thugs though. I’m done. *walks out post*

  6. People are so stupid. I don’t condone hitting women but the majority race in this country sure does love to pick and choose who to protest.

    1. Yep. George Zimmerman Doesn’t Have Anything To Do With That….Neither Does Rih. Chris Made His Bed Hard,Now He’s Got To Lay In It.

  7. A lot of white people get outraged about the wrong things. Chris has apologized numerous times and hasn’t hit another woman that we know of. Let it go. They ought to be just as passionate about the injustices incurring regarding people that DON’T look like them.
