In breaking news, it appears the “Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” family may have just lost one of the former stars of the hit show.
According to a recent tweet from Alfonso Ribeiro’s official Twitter account, James Avery has passed away. He tweets:
Avery played the beloved Uncle Phil (Phillip Banks) on the show, and there’s no word yet on what his official cause of death was. In fact, we’re still awaiting the details surrounding his death.
Avery was 65 years old and we’re sure he will be missed dearly.
We send our condolences to the loved ones of James Avery in such a tragic time.
In related news, one of the producers of the show just passed away recently too. A few days ago it was confirmed that Jeffrey Ian Pollack passed away at 54 years old.
Update: TMZ just confirmed that the actor died last night in a LA hospital after surgery for an undisclosed illness went horribly wrong.
