Lil Wayne is currently at odds with his once father figure Birdman, and it’s all because Birdman and Cash Money Records keep delaying his upcoming studio album.
While it remains unclear why the album keeps getting pushed back, Birdman’s new protegé Young Thug has been taking shots at Weezy on social media and some suspect he even had one of his boys shoot up Weezy’s tour bus recently.
Lil Wayne may be done with Birdman and Cash Money, but he’s made up with his former foe Jay Z.
In fact, he now claims Jigga is his idol.
At his recent performance at KMEL Summer Jam in Oakland the other night, he tells the crowd:
“I just signed a deal with my mother f-cking idol Jay Z.”
Many suspected the announcement means he inked a deal with Roc Nation, but the rapper’s rep claims he was actually referring to joining Tidal as an artist owner.
Jay has been trying to get coins with him for years. Good for them.
I guess he now sees Jay Z was never his enemy like Birdman wanted him to believe.
It’s like a complete 180.
I have always felt like Wayne and Jay deep down inside really respected each other, but Baby was always in Wayne’s ear telling him not to be cool with Jay Z because Jay would have eventually convinced Lil Wayne to leave Cash Money a long time ago. Anyone with sense knew a long, long time ago what Baby was about. Wayne was too young to see it.
Jay-Z is someone a lot of these rappers look up to. Even when they try to go at him, they still really respect how far he’s come. I like that since he went from former crack dealer to business man, husband and father.
Interesting. I thought they hated each other.
It’s about time they squashed their beef.
My two favorite rappers making peace. Yass
