R&B singers Frank Ocean and Miguel get compared often, since both continuously put out critically acclaimed music.

Now that Miguel just dropped a new album and Frank will do the same very soon, Miguel figured it’s a good time to let folks know that he makes better music.

When asked if he’s cool with Frank, Miguel tells the Sunday Times:

“I wouldn’t say we were friends. To be completely honest — and no disrespect to anyone — I genuinely believe that I make better music, all the way around.”

Miguel also feels it’s very possible he will last longer in the business than Frank and The Weeknd.

In related news, it appears Miguel’s controversial interviews as of late haven’t done much to help him sell albums. However, Meek Mill’s hot romance with Nicki Minaj may have aided him in getting his largest first week sales ever.

Hot New Hip Hop writes:

Hits Daily Double reports the final tally to be 216,173, putting Meek a good 50k up on his debut album, Dreams & Nightmares, and ahead of pretty much every rap album released this year that wasn’t by Drake or Kendrick.

As you might expect, the large number will land Meek at the top of the charts this week, with Miguel hovering around the second spot with 39,342 in sales. Stay tuned for the streaming data to make its way in.

  1. Miguel didn’t have a hit single this time around so I’m not surprised he did so bad. But I agree. His music is better than Franks. But both make quality music.

    1. Yeah none of his new music has taken off this time. And I think that interview he did when he said he’s not really trying to get married to his gf and they have been dating for like 10 years and he sleeps with other people turned off some people.

  2. I think Miguel’s problem is he seems like such a douche in most of his interviews. He needs some PR training.

    1. He’s cocky and I hate to hear him talk. But I can look past that if the music is good. There’s no hit single on this album and I think that’s the difference. The songs are good but there’s no Adorn or Sure Thing.

  3. Miguel flopped because he didn’t promote the album at all I didn’t even know he had an album coming out until recently. I completely agree Miguel does make better music than Frank Ocean who is very overrated to me he had maybe 2 good songs and thats it.

  4. I heard a little of Miguel’s album and it was good. R&B just doesn’t sell anymore. But a hit single would have helped.

  5. I think Miguel makes much better music than Frank Ocean. I like both Miguel and The Weeknd. This latest album by Miguel is different, I like it.

  6. I’m blaming Miguel’s sales on terrible promotion. So many people had no idea he had new music out. The album is good though. Worth every penny.

  7. I didn’t know he even released an album. Horrible promotion. I guess I’ll youtube it and see what it sounds like

  8. Honestly nobody is buying music like that any more so all artist album sales are down (with the exception of Tay Tay). Use to be a time when artist would go platinum in the first week so even 200k is not that great. Nicki’s album still isn’t platinum, Chris Brown’s last album still isn’t platinum (just examples). And why spend money on these albums when you can listen to it for free on Spotify.
