“Empire” head honcho Lee Daniels will speak his mind when he feels good and ready, but this time it may have led to a lawsuit.
According to TMZ, Lee is being sued by big time actor Sean Penn.
Apparently in the midst of defending Terrence Howard, he may have technically slandered Penn.
TMZ writes:
Daniels did an interview in which he said, “[Terrence] ain’t done nothing different than Marlon Brando or Sean Penn, and all of a sudden he’s some f***in’ demon…. That’s a sign of the time, of race, of where we are right now in America.”
Penn claims in his lawsuit Daniels’ comments were “reckless and malicious” and Sean has falsely “for years been the subject of scandalous, scurrilous, and baseless attacks.”
Penn has been caught on video attacking paparazzi and prosecuted for it. As for women, there have been numerous reports that he allegedly brutalized Madonna in the late ’80s, and numerous publications reported he was charged and convicted. We did some checking, and it appears the story about being charged and convicted is incorrect … he was never charged.
Penn says in the lawsuit, “Daniels’ defense of Howard (and his improper invocation of two of the greatest actors and humanitarians of our time, Brando and Penn, in doing so) is apparently part of a misguided campaign to profit and further bolster and brand his show ‘Empire.'”
Lee is being sued for $10 million.
He is always getting sued.
Oops. Well he’s making good money now so I’m sure they will settle out of court.
This is like the worst L you can get.
But I thought he was a woman beater. Just because Madonna didn’t press charges doesn’t mean he’s innocent.
Madonna spilled the tea years ago in her book though. Lee should fight this.
He really should. Madonna filed a police report and everything.
Sean is just using a scare tactic. He’d have a hard time proving libel in court. It’s been known for years and even confirmed by Madonna that he was abusive.
Yikes. Well I wonder how much Lee loves white people now. LOL.
I understand and I agree with what Lee Daniels was trying to say people will vilify a black man for something but won’t have a problem when a white man does the same thing. But Lee should have known better anything will get you sued nowadays especially someone in his position he should have just said white actors instead of saying a specific name. Sean Penn has money and resources to drag this on but he needs to just let it go because by him suing Lee he made it a bigger story.
I knew he would eat those words.
Robin Wright and Madonna would disagree. Sean is such a liar.
Lee is getting that n-gga wake up call.

But he hasn’t sued any of the mainstream publications who have been reporting on his abusive past for years.
I believe he was charged with a misdemeanor for hitting Madonna but got his records erased because money talks in Hollywood. That’s why he’s always doing so much charity.
