Apparently the disappointed fans expressed their grievances in open letters submitted to the Charlotte Observer.
USA Today writes:
After the Panthers beat the Titans, an angry Tennessee mother penned a letter to the editor about Cam Newton’s dancing, and today, a week after Newton announced that he and his longtime girlfriend gave birth to a son, a couple of “disappointed” readers wrote in to complain about him setting a bad example by being an unwed father.
Here’s the first letter, courtesy of The Charlotte Observer:
“So the man whom we celebrate, and with good reason, has produced a son. Congratulations would be in order if he had been man enough to marry the mother of his child and make a home. This happy occasion is blighted when Cam, whose own parents were married, skips the very basis of being a good parent.
I am just very sorry and very disappointed.”
And here’s the second:
“It is amazing that the birth of Cam Newton’s son by his girlfriend is a front-page story. The U.S. is seeing a rise in unmarried births and for the media to flash this as the greatest happening for Cam Newton is contrary to today’s family principles.
Cam is a role model to many of our young males, both white and black. The least that he and his longtime girlfriend could have done is to get married prior to giving birth to show his followers that not only is he a superstar, but also a person with high morals.”
Where’s the outrage about Brady’s bratty a-s having a baby mama? FOH.
This is so silly. He had a baby. He didn’t rob a bank.
The role model debate again. Ugh.
Are any of the people who wrote these letters role models themselves? It amazes me how so many people expect successful people to be role models, but they don’t think the same applies to them too.
Goodness! Some people aren’t ancient and traditional . You do not have to be married to procreate , some people that aren’t married have healthier relationships than those that are . Marriage is no longer the Holy Grail is used to be . Divorce rates are as high as the heroin epidemic , why not just congratulate and keep it moving? Smdh ..CONGRATS CAM AND FAM!!:-)<3:-)<3
They should really mind their business. They don’t own Cam. He has one job, and that’s to win games. And he’s delivering. Leave him alone.
See how they do a black man on he rise. Cam has become the best QB in the NFL this year. This man is having a record year going to be a NFL MVP and for the last couple of weeks people have did nothing but try to diminish his character. First it was the dabbing being inappropriate now they attacking his personal life. Meanwhile not only did Tom Brady have a child out of wedlock but he left her while pregnant. Where were the moral police when Antonio Cromartie was around here having 12 kids they didn’t care because he isn’t a big enough name. But the black man who is successful and breaking all the records this year trash his character smh.
How many athletes have children out of wedlock? Where was the open letter when Tom Brady got Bridget Moynihan pregnant WHILE he was dating Gisele?
