Alicia Keys Admits Clear Skin Makes No Makeup Stance Easier

In a recent interview with Elle UK, Alicia opened up about her current no makeup stance:

“It took me forever to get this skin. I mean, I know how it feels to have a face full of bumps and pimples. I lived through that in the public eye. But when I first got pregnant [six years ago with her son, Egypt] I started to eliminate dairy from my diet and drank a lot more water, which made a huge difference to my skin. Some have called this a crusade. Well, I died laughing at that. I use to feel the pressure to appear as the music industry expected, but I don’t now.”

  1. Duh. This is what everyone was saying. She would have never went without makeup if her skin was still bad. She looks good though. Pretty woman.

  2. This is why people aren’t taking this seriously. Now had she did no makeup when her skin was bad, then that would be a different story.

  3. She irritated my soul case with this whole campaign. She just came off as smug, pretentious and holier than thou, and it didn’t help that she was actually wearing makeup in some of the photos, so yeah……no!

    1. LOL. This. And the crazy thing is there’s a lot of us who aren’t famous who don’t even wear makeup like that. It’s not some super spiritual thing. We just don’t feel like we need to throw the entire MAC counter on our faces to walk out the house all the time.

  4. It came out a while ago that she still wears foundation. Her makeup artist spilled that tea. Alicia needs to just stop.

  5. They need to come praise me. I stopped wearing makeup for months now….and I’m 6mons pregnant and breaking out. I’m at a point in my life…that Im a regular person, not trying to impress no1..just trying to get my skin in order…and plus I already got my man and he loves me anyway LOL

  6. Never thought this was a big deal. I can count on one hand how many times I wore make up. I just recently started wearing lipstick for a pop of color but my face has always been bare.
