Mary Jane meets Lee’s baby mama and it’s a pretty awkward encounter.
Mary Jane meets Lee’s baby mama Zoe. Zoe makes MJ a little uncomfortable with her questions about her and Lee’s s*x life and the problems she’s having at work. But the last straw for MJ is when Zoe asks her if Lee told her about his “high blood pressure problem.”
Mary Jane had no idea Lee has high blood pressure and has to take a pill everyday, and she questions why he hasn’t told her.
She is starting to feel like Lee and Zoe should just get back together but Lee tells her that she cheated on him so it’s a done deal. But Lee does admit he’s still best friends with Zoe but MJ wonders if Zoe still has romantic feelings.
Ava blackmails PJ into helping her throw a party.
Ava took pictures of PJ while he was being intimate with Selita in her mother’s bed, so she threatens to send the pictures to her mother if he doesn’t help her throw a party at her mother’s house. PJ reluctantly agrees.
Kara’s boy toy Orlando oversteps his bounds.
Kara is heated with Orlando because he has developed a social media relationship with her son behind her back. Even though her son reached out to Orlando first, she is very uncomfortable with the situation. She tells him to cut off communication with her son.
Lee uses MJ’s family for standup material and downplays marriage.
Lee takes it too far in his standup routine when he mentions the fact that he thinks it’s odd that Helen had a problem with him and MJ sleeping together in the same room when Niecy lives there with her two kids.
MJ confronts him about the jokes made about her family, and he doesn’t understand what he said that was so offensive. He then reveals that he thinks marriage is overrated and he’s against it.
“The institution of marriage is baited and hypocritical.” – Lee
He thinks it’s just a matter of time before people get divorced so he doesn’t see the point in marriage. All of this turns MJ off and makes her question their relationship.
Justin becomes Ronda’s new target.
Ronda tells Kara that she wants Justin out because he can’t be trusted. She thinks he will turn on anyone.
MJ meets Justin’s source and Justin convinces MJ to stand up to Ronda.
Justin tells MJ that he will share his source’s identity with her but she can’t tell Kara or Ronda. He reveals the wrongly convicted black man who McAllister sent to prison is on his way to meet the both of them.
The man opens up about how he ended up wrongly convicted, and he admits he’s had a past of legal troubles. However, he was not even there when a young man on his block was shot and killed. He didn’t do the shooting but a woman pointed him out in the lineup. His friend tried to testify on his behalf, but was threatened to be put in jail if he did. Now his friend is dead, so he doesn’t have a witness. He also says McAllister knew he didn’t do it but wanted to use the case to advance his career.
Justin tells MJ that she needs to handle Ronda but she’s afraid she could lose her job. He tells her a seat at the table is greater than her job. He tells her to think about it and he will back whatever she chooses to do.
She tells Kara she can’t give up Justin’s source because she’s not ok with Ronda getting the story. Kara is angry and warns her not to trust Justin.
Lee’s baby mama is actually not a threat at all because she’s a lesbian.
Zoe kisses MJ and reveals that she’s not trying to get back with Lee because she’s actually into women. She also shows her the model that she’s happily dating.
MJ wins her showdown with Ronda.
Justin and MJ show the interview to the head producer and he tells them he wants Ronda and Kara on the job. But Mary Jane threatens to quit and so does Justin. It is then decided that MJ and Justin will continue with the story and Ronda is heated. She confronts Justin and let’s him know she plans to get even.
Orlando wants more with Kara.
Orlando meets with Kara and tells her that he’s ok with meeting her kids because he wants to commit to her. They kiss and head off to the bedroom.
Ava’s party is a disaster…and that’s bad news for PJ.
At Ava’s party, a young woman overdoses. PJ rushes to help her. Ava’s mother is pissed and PJ apologizes. He offers her money to make up for the party drama. She tells him that she believes Ava planned the party but PJ tells her it’s all on him and she had nothing to do with it. She doesn’t believe him and tells him she believes Ava is using him to get to her. She tries to kiss him and it upsets PJ.
“All this time I thought it was Ava I had to worry about.” – PJ
PJ drops her as a client and tells her he’s not ok with the situation.
MJ’s interview is a hit but Ronda gets the last laugh.
MJ’s interview goes well. McAllister withdraws his name from the supreme court running. Her good spirits are ruined when Ronda reveals she’s finally signed her contract. This means her problems with Ronda are just beginning.
Zoe, Lee and MJ go out to dinner and she reveals that she and her girlfriend want to get pregnant. But she wants Lee to be the sperm donor. MJ and Lee are at a loss for words.
What are your thoughts on the episode?
She’s going to end up hooking up with Justin watch.
Honestly now that wouldn’t bother me. I don’t care for Lee anymore.
I like Lee but I don’t think they will last because Mary Jane wants to get married at some point in her life.
I thin the marriage thing will be a deal breaker for MJ eventually.
Lee’s baby mama annoyed me so much. I can see right now that she is going to be a problem.
I’m so glad PJ walked away from those crazy white women.
I was Team Lee but Mary Jane is making a mistake if she keeps dating a man who doesn’t want marriage when she want marriage. Rarely does that work out for women.
Lee ain’t all that and I think this episode showed that. Him talking about her family in his standup was really disrespectful and him hating marriage is anther red flag. She can do better.
I’ve been really team Lee until this episode. Possible feelings for his ex, omitting things, the marriage issue, his comedy set. He just rubbed be the wrong way. On the other hand, Justin is slowly becoming better and better to me these last couple of episodes. But I still don’t trust him.
And just like that Lee lost points with me. Damn.
