Bow Wow Made Erica Mena Quit LHHNY + Blames Joie Chavis for Breakup

“Growing Up Hip Hop Atlanta” star Shad Moss AKA Bow Wow is making interview rounds promoting the show. He hit up Hot 97’s morning show with Ebro Darden and touched on a number of topics, including his recent social media gaffes. Things took an interesting turn when Ebro asked about his relationship with Erica Mena. He told the morning show that he was the one that persuaded Erica to quit “Love and Hip Hop New York.” Apparently, her behavior on the show affected shows he worked on.

I tried my best to keep hers off everything as much as possible. Like, I was the one who told her to stop doing “Love and Hip Hop.” Like, “you don’t need to do it.”

I just felt like the stuff… if she kept doing it if we were together, it bled into CBS. I was doing CSI on CBS at the time, it was going to bleed into it. Because when you’re one, you’re one.

If she got into a fight, I’d hear about it, and I gotta answer to it. If she did something, I gotta answer to it. And I would show her and say, “See. This is what happens, cause we’re one now…”

So, I’d tried my best to protect her and shield her. I moved her from New York, moved her out to LA to get her away from the mass hysteria that was going on.

But with me and her, it just fun while it lasted. It ran its course. Just like a lot of things happen life. A lot of relationships end that way.

Then he was asked what caused the two of them to break up. Shad could no longer deal with baby mama drama between him and Joie Chavis. Interestingly enough, Joie and Shad may have gotten back together last year.

Shad said the following:

Basically at the time… It was a difficult situation. What it was… I was put in a situation that I’ve never been put in as a man before. I never felt with the woman that I love, but at the same time, Im caught in the middle with the woman that I love but at the same time I have the mother of my child… they don’t mix.

But then you got my precious daughter who don’t see none of that, who I want to come over and spend time with her daddy. But my fiancée lives with me. So, I’m in a bubble.

I would go a week without seeing my daughter and I would just feel some type of way. It would just eat me alive. Honest to God, that was my situation.

It was just catty stuff, you know. He said, she said stuff… The typical gossip. LA is small. All these girls know each other. All these girls work out. All these girls run Runyon [Canyon]. All these girls do the same thing. It’s just that small circle…

One thing gets back… Then, I’m in the house… “Yo! You need to tell her… You need to check….”

I just want to see my daughter at the end of the day. I’m just put up in a weird, awkward situation. And, for that, I’m choosing my daughter any day of the week.

I’m putting myself in [Joie’s] shoes and she was dating some dude I didn’t like. And, I wasn’t rocking with it and didn’t want him around my daughter.

When asked if he and Joie are back involved, he answered, “You gotta watch the show.” “Growing Up Hip Hop Atlanta” premieres on WETv May 25th.

  1. So in essence she quit her day job for something that ran its course. Ok…it’s weird to me when I see men say they can’t see their kid cause of who they date. Morally it maybe wrong but the mother can’t dictate if he can see his child based on dating a thot. I don’t understand why people try to control other people’s lives if they aren’t together. My ex cheated on me with his now gf. Doesn’t matter how I feel about her it’s his kid too.

  2. I’m sure Erica regrets quitting now because she hasn’t had a job since hosting some BGC stuff and well that’s been cancelled. So I can see her wiggling her way back on LHHNY pretty soon.
