‘Growing Up Hip Hop Atlanta’ Recap: Ayana Checks Reginae + Brandon Loses a Client

Deb continues to checks Brandon.

“Take out a pencil and paper because I am about to take you back to school.” -Deb

Deb Atney continues to get into Brandon for shading Lil’ Wayne during his heated argument with Reginae. Despite this, Brandon tells Deb that he wants her “to be a mother” and hear his side.

The conversation doesn’t go far because Deb feels like Brandon is too old to let 17-year-old Reginae get under his skin, while Brandon feels like Reginae got out of line and he had every right to respond.

Bow Wow is updated about Brandon and Reginae’s fallout and invites Ayana to the strip club.

Bow Wow lands back in Atlanta. When he does, he calls Brandon. Brandon tells Bow Wow about what happened with Reginae. He also tells Bow that Toya will be making an appearance at Deb’s Thanksgiving event.

Bow Wow is concerned the event may go left once Deb and Toya come face to face.

Meanwhile, Bow Wow texts Ayana, inviting her to the strip club. She accepts the invitation.

Ayana explains her “situation-ship.”

Ayana is in her car trying to contact her boo, a woman named Amy.

Amy moved from NY to Atlanta, supposedly to be closer to Ayana .However, she is not picking up the phone. This infuriates Ayana who tells her that she will pop up at her door if he doesn’t answer her phone.

Anaya ends up Amy’s apartment. Amy tells Anaya not to keep popping up at her place unannounced. Later in the conversation, Ayana asked Amy if she is ready to meet her parents, she seems numb to the thought even though they have been in each other’s lives for two years.

Brandon and Zonnique have another sit down.

Brandon meets Zonnique at a restaurant to apparently hash out what happened at her photo shoot. Brandon expresses his displeasure with her not standing by his side while he argued with Reginae. However, Zonnique felt like he was a jerk. Things sour when he tells Zonnique that she was dressed like a hooker at her photo shoot.

Bow Wow returns to the studio unfocused.

Bow Wow brought Ayana and her friends to the strip club called Blue Flame. Ayana, who’s frustrated with Amy tells Bow Wow she’s never been to a strip club before. Bow quickly gets her acclimated. However, JD texts Bow Wow and tells him he better know his lyrics.

Later on, Bow Wow heads to the studio two hours late and JD is not happy. JD immediately questions his work ethic after Bow Wow stumbles in the booth with his lyrics.

“Are you ready to work. You’d be ready to go to a strip club with a quickness. I don’t know if you’re ready. ” -JD

“I’m not with that s***” -JD

In his green screen interview, Bow Wow admits he was drunk when he got to the studio.  He keeps struggling as he records. As JD watches this, he becomes angry. Ironically, JD leaves and heads to the strip club.

Ayana meets with Shaniah.

Anaya meets Shaniah at Harold’s Chicken in Atlanta. They recap what happened at Zonnique’s photo shoot. Ayana was annoyed at both Brandon and Reginae. She tells Shaniah that both of them are in the wrong, “I’m not to defend something that’s stupid.” Shaniah agrees.

Shaniah invites Ayana to a girls night out with her, Regina and Zonnique. Ayana is apprehensive but will attend.

Reginae and Zonnique host a girls night.

Shaniah and Anaya show up to a bowling alley to hang out with Reginae and Zonnique. Ayana and Reginae are surprised to see one another. Reginae invites Anaya to sit next to her. Reginae asks Ayana if she was trying to come for her. Ayana explains to Reginae that she was protecting her cousin.

“Yall were arguing with each other. I stepped in front of him because somebody was walking up on my cousin. And at the end of the day, don’t be walking up on my cousin because yeah, I will knock your a*s out.” – Ayana

Reginae grows silent at the warning but Ayana eventually reveals that she feels both Brandon and Reginae were out of line for the way they spoke to each other. Spefiically Ayana feels Reginae stirred the pot when she came for Brandon’s career first.

Reginae says she wasn’t trying to be messy and she was just genuinely asking who Brandon was since she never heard of him before.

Ayana also warns Reginae about walking up on men. She urges her to refrain from doing it because she believes some one will one day knock her out.

In a green screen interview, Ayana is convinced that one day Reginae’s mouth is going to get her into a bad situation.

“If nobody told you this before, girl it’s a new millenium. Don’t be walking up on no man because these n*ggas these days will knock your a*s out. If a man touch me, yes I have cousins and sh*t…my Dad, I can call somebody to get it handled but that ain’t stopped me from getting knocked down in that moment.You can’t be walking up on people like that and you definitely shouldn’t be walking up on no man like that.” – Ayana

In a green screen interview, Ayana has more words on Reginae:

“Reginae is always going to speak her mind no matter what. She is going to say what she wants to say. And one day, somebody is going to knock her a*s out.”

Reginae reveals in her green screen interview that she will deal with Ayana later.

Tiny reaches out to Bow Wow.

Tiny calls Bow Wow to ask him about the beef between Brandon and Reginae. She tells Bow Wow that Brandon escalated the beef unnecessarily by shading Lil Wayne. Bow tells Tiny that he will talk to Zonnique. Later on, he calls Zonnique to find out what happened and Zonnique explains what happened from her perspective. Bow Wow tells Zonnique that Brandon’s mouth may get him into some serious trouble.

Bow also tells Zonnique to have one more sit down with Brandon.

Brandon asks Deb for advice.

Back at Deb’s house, Brandon asks Deb advice on how to deal with Zonnique. Brandon tells Deb that Zonnique doesn’t have what it takes to make it. Deb tells Brandon that Zonnique needs to be pushed and he should be tough on her.

Snoop Dogg coaches Bow Wow.

At a dinner in Atlanta, Bow Wow sits down with JD and Snoop Dogg. JD, specifically tells Bow Wow he needs to show them that he is grown up.

“When you running around with hoes, you look like a lil kid.” -Snoop Dogg

Both tell Bow Wow he needs to get serious about his career.

Snoop then jokes with Bow Wow and tells him that he’s been peeping Joie’s Instagram account and she is looking good. Bow Wow embarrassingly laughs it off.

At the end of the conversation, Snoop tells Bow that JD just wants the best for him and that Bow Wow needs to stay focused on his craft.

Brandon and Zonnique break off their working relationship.

Brandon and Zonnique have one more sit down at her house. He tells her that they failed to have the number of lessons they were supposed to have. The two begin to argue. Brandon, responds with shade.

“Where is your hit record?” – Brandon

Zonnique replies, “Who are you.” Brandon didn’t appreciate this and responded back and gets even more harsh. As a result, Zonnique begins to cry.

Zonnique is done with working Brandon and tells Brandon that she wants Deb to be her manager.

“You’re in for a rude awakening.” -Brandon

Tiny and Toya confront Deb.

Deb is hosting her Turkey give away and members of the GUHHATL cast show up. Ayana brings Amy to the giveaway. Brandon pulls her to the side and tells her that they will get to know one another first before she meets the family.

Meanwhile, Toya and Tiny meet up at the event. Tiny tells Toya that Zonnique doesn’t want to work with Brandon anymore. Tiny says she’s going to try to de-escalate the situation.

However, when Tiny brings Toya to talk to Deb, things escalate.

Deb tells Toya that she believes Reginae started the confrontation, while Toya feels like Brandon had no right to respond the way he did.

When Tiny attempts to interject, Deb tells Tiny to stay out of it and this upsets Toya.
