Briana Latrise Opened up About Hard Life + Drug Addiction in Throwback Interview

On the most recent episode of “Growing Up Hip Hop,” Briana has made it clear that she is just not a fan of Angela Simmons.

In fact, she claims Angela was snotty to her the first time they met.

Angela doesn’t remember the encounter and that angered Briana further, resulting in her calling Angela a “b*tch” while filming.

After the confrontation, Angela told producers that she would no longer film any scenes with Briana.

Briana really feels like Angela is a “spoiled brat” and it’s clear from an interview Briana did last year that her rough life prior to the show may be one of the main reasons she is struggling to get along with Angela.

Last November, she gave an interview to Interrupted Blog, and she was very open about her past.

She told the publication that she started acting out when she was 11 years old, and she began doing drugs when she became a teen:

“My parents were very young when they had me. They didn’t know how to deal with the teenage version of me, when I was trying to find myself, and becoming a little defiant. I ended up doing what a lot of kids were doing… I did a lot of drugs and hung out. I ended up in some pretty unsavory situations, and I’m just blessed to be here,” she resounded.

“My mom and I bumped heads a lot and I ended up getting put out at about 12. I had to figure it out from there.

Until this day, we just don’t see eye-to-eye on things. We just learned to tolerate each other’s opinions and standpoints, by respecting one another. Back then, it was like two kids arguing with one another.”

Kamara moved to Miami when she was about 15, trying to escape her own madness of drug usage, by living with her grandmother…

“I thought I was getting away from my problem. I had a drug of choice which was methamphetamine. Anything that I could do, I would do…Once I got to Miami, I found cocaine. I also found ecstasy and a bunch of prescription pills. I didn’t know how bad it was until I was kicked out of school for the third time.”

It wasn’t until she visited her mom some odd years ago, that she had a wake-up call.

“I realized that I didn’t have anyone and I was alone. If I had died that night, no one would have found me. So, I went home and knocked on my mother’s door. I rang the doorbell for about twenty-minutes, screaming her name, and she didn’t answer.

When if first walked up, I saw light, so I took a step back and looked. I went around, hopped the fence and went to the living room window, and knocked on the glass. I could see her and I knew she could see me, but she didn’t open the door.

Later in life, she told me that someone told her that I had to hit my rock bottom before she could help me.

That’s when I knew I needed to get it together.”

Briana is of course the daughter of Kendu Isaacs and former step daughter of Mary J. Blige.

  1. I know she’s had a rough childhood but that doesn’t give her an excuse to be a b-tch. I just don’t like her a-s.

  2. Well it’s easy as hell to see she’s jealous of Angela and Vanessa. But she can’t blame them for what she went through when they didn’t even know her a-s.

  3. I dont feel sorry for her, everything she did and went through was a choice. Doing drugs and acting act is a choice. I didn’t hear once that she was molested or raped and maybe thats where her anger came from it just sounds like she is a brat herself who thought she had all the answers like most kids do. Sad thing is now she is grown and still defient and being a b-tch. With Mary J Blige money she could have had endless opportunities to be a better person to get a trade and just get her life right but it sounds like she doesn’t want to because that’s just who she is sometimes children are just a bad seed and hateful. So sympathy here.

  4. Growing up hard is not an excuse to be an a-shole and I’m so tired of people getting passes for it. Everyone has been through something whether you grew up rich or not. Granted your life may be harder than someone that grew up privileged but going after them merely because of that is jealousy, plain and simple.

  5. I still don’t like her. Everyone has been though things in life. Nobody has a perfect life. We all have obstacles. But she has a nasty attitude BY CHOICE. And I do not like the way she came for Angela and now Vanessa. They don’t even bother her.
