In other news, Beyoncé mom Tina Lawson revealed that she wasn’t sure the Coachella crowd would understand the kind of performance Bey put on Saturday Night. In fact, she was worried that it would not be understood.
She then continued via Instagram:
Her brave response to me made me feel a-bit selfish and ashamed. She said I have worked very hard to get to the point where I have a true voice and At this point in my life and my career. I have a responsibility to do whats best for the world and not what is most popular.
[Beyoncé] said that her hope is that after the show young people would research this culture and see how cool it is, and young people black and white would listen to “LIFT EVERY VOICE AND SING,” and see how amazing the words are for us all and bridge the gap. She also hopes that it will encourage young kids to enroll in our amazing HIstorically Black Colleges and Universities.

Bey makes me so proud.
I’ll be real and admit I’ve never been a Beyonce fan. But after Lemonade and that Coachella performance, she gets nothing but respect from me. She is a gem because most artists today won’t do this kind of stuff.
I really love me some Beyonce.
This is why Bey is my fave. She motivates me and gives her all.
This is awesome. I’m glad Bey is following her heart.
Beyonce make me feel I don’t do enough at times. Sheesh!
Good stuff.
