LisaRaye McCoy Defends Iyanla Vanzant & ‘Iyanla: Fix My Life’

Iyanla Vanzant understands why some have struggled on “Iyanla: Fix My Life.”

When it comes to criticism, Iyanla Vanzant is probably used to it by now. “Iyanla: Fix My Life” was meant to help people get to the bottom of their traumas, but it’s not an easy process for everyone to get through. Over the years, some people have complained about their time on the show. And they have criticized Iyanla’s methods of healing.

Interestingly enough, Iyanla addressed this on Fox Soul’s “Cocktails with Queens.”

After Claudia Jordan asked Iyanla if LisaRaye McCoy’s family was open to the process, Iyanla confirmed they were. And she said, “I think what happens…and Lisa has to speak for herself or Selena, once you get there and you get into the process, I think it’s like, ‘Oh wait a minute, hold up. I didn’t know that it was gon be about all of that.'”

The process is approved by LisaRaye.

LisaRaye would later make it clear that she believes the process is a great one.

In defense of Iyanla and the show, LisaRaye said, “And she’s real, it’s honest because folks ask to, ‘Well, is this real? How many days did you start?’ But it’s so much that goes into it, months before you film. You sit with psychologists, psychiatrists. You have counselors, you have homework, you have workbooks, you have…it’s so much more than just what you see. That process…don’t knock the process, you all, don’t knock the process.”
