Monique Samuels and Candiace Dillard’s altercation is polarizing.
“Real Housewives of Potomac” is in the middle of a very eventual fifth season. While the show has never lacked in drama, fans have been discussing the current season since last year. This is due to Monique Samuels and Candiace Dillard’s altercation. To no surprise, the situation impacted the rest of the cast. Gizelle Bryant refused to film with Monique and said that being around her could hurt her image. Plus, she wanted to protect Jamal Bryant’s image as well by not being around Monique.
Robyn Dixon followed suit, and Wendy Osefo also didn’t film with Monique after the altercation.
However, Ashley Darby and Karen Huger continued to support Monique.
Ashley ended back up in a bad place with Candiace after she agreed to write a character statement to help Monique’s countersuit. Candiace felt betrayed, so she and the others pressed Ashley about this.
Karen was also pressed for her continued support of Monique. And she still believes both women were at fault for the altercation.
The reunion is even more controversial.
With the cast being so divided, it’s no surprise that the drama spilled over into the reunion. While Gizelle expected that it would just be Monique in the hot seat, it was Gizelle who got the most heat in part one.
Karen and Monique came for Gizelle’s relationship with Jamal. Both women accused the couple of faking a reconciliation for a storyline. Monique then accused Jamal of sleeping with his congregation. In response to this, Jamal fired back on Facebook Live. And he made some accusations of his own.
He accused Chris Samuels of having CTE. And Jamal accused Chris of trying to attack Robyn and Gizelle at the reunion. To make matters even messier, he also accused Chris of verbally attacking a black woman at Safeway. Jamal alleged that he had footage of this.
As a result of all of the drama, the “Real Housewives of Potomac” reunion has been a hot topic on social media. People had a lot to say about Monique’s binder, the accusations made during and after the reunion, as well as Karen’s focused effort to keep applying pressure on Gizelle.
Ratings continue to surge for the Potomac cast.
So it’s probably no surprise that the ratings only went up for part 2 of the reunion. Part 2 brought in 1.275 million viewers. Part 1 of the reunion amassed 1.174 million viewers. So that is an increase of 101,000 viewers.
Interestingly enough, this is the very first time in history that “Real Housewives of Potomac” has topped “Real Housewives of Atlanta” in ratings. The latest episode of RHOA brought in 1.211 million viewers. While it is a bump up from the previous episode which pulled in 1.189 million viewers, RHOA only saw an increase of 22,000 viewers.
Amid RHOA’s dip in ratings, NeNe Leakes has urged people to boycott Bravo. Prior to her position, supporters of NeNe and “Married to Medicine” creator Mariah Huq created a petition calling for a boycott of the television network.
