Chicago is the place Tommy stops en route to his fresh start in California.
Tommy was supposed to head to California to start moving weight there after leaving behind his life in New York. However, he decides to make a pit stop. He receives a call from Rodolfo questioning where he is. Tommy assures him he’ll be there soon. And he’ll let him know when he’s made it to California.
He’s in Chicago. Tommy stops at a house and it looks like no one lives there anymore. He asks a local what happened to the lady who lived at that address. And he learns she isn’t dead but living in a nursing home. He goes by there and leaves as soon as he recognizes her face.
An inmate named Diamond is getting ready to be a free man. One of the prisoners tells his associates to allow Diamond to feel comfortable before making the call. Before Diamond leaves, one of the security guards gifts him with a barber kit so he can have something to get him started. And Diamond shows gratitude by letting the man have his Jordans. His little brother Jenard is there to pick him up.
The Flynn family is in the drug business.
Tommy has a flirty moment with a bartender named Gloria and a tense moment with a few men when asked to move his car. One man asks nicely, saying their boss is on a tight schedule. Tommy agrees to move his car.
Da may be the boss the men were referring to. He is in the house with his daughter Claudia. She handles the finances in the family business. But she wants to do more because she doesn’t think her brother Vic can handle the heat. However, Da isn’t hearing this. He says Vic’s work is for men. And Claudia isn’t cut out for the street life.
While outside the bar, one of the men tells Tommy he should go ahead and get out of Chicago before he finds out what the Flynn family is about. His run in with them won’t be forgotten. However, Tommy is unmoved. He’s never heard of this family.
Meanwhile, Vic is inside collecting money from Gloria. He has strong romantic feelings for the woman but she doesn’t want to be with him because of what he does for a living and the control his father has over him. Vic acts like he’s planning to get out of the game. However, she’s not convinced. Before Vic leaves, he tells the other man, Simon, to keep an eye out on her.
Tommy beats up Simon.
Vic and Tommy have somewhat of a stare-down before Vic leaves.
Tommy makes his way back inside the bar to talk to Gloria and try some soup. After Simon and Gloria exchange some words, Tommy follows him outside to beat him up. He breaks Simon’s forearm. Tommy then reads his messages about the drug drop happening at 3 am. Tommy takes Simon’s phone. He later sleeps with Gloria. And he learns Gloria’s husband died while he was in the military.
Vic is saved by Tommy.
Tommy takes Simon’s phone and goes to the drop location he was supposed to go to. Vic is there waiting and Tommy threatens him with a gun, telling him to take him to their connect. Tommy and Vic make it inside and find that the man they were waiting on, Zamose, isn’t there. Vic admits he’s light on the money he owes and guns are drawn. Tommy realizes the men with the drugs are novices. A shootout occurs, with one of the dealers dying.
Jenard from the CBI gang doesn’t want the murder pinned on him. Vic says this won’t happen and he’ll handle it. Jenard thanks Tommy for saving him and Vic’s lives. Tommy wants to be paid for his services. So he takes Vic and Jenards’ cash and the drugs. They aren’t happy about this.
Jenard later tells Diamond about this and he thinks they should find Tommy.
Vic tells Claudia about what happened with the Yardies and Tommy. Claudia doesn’t understand why Vic is doing business with the Yardies anyway because their drugs are low quality. But Vic thinks he has a handle on things. Claudia isn’t convinced.
After visiting his grandmother, Tommy finds out he has a brother.
Tommy goes on the internet to dig up information about the Flynn family and the CBI gang. He returns to the retirement home to see his grandmother. He tells her who he is but she doesn’t have much to say. As he’s leaving, a man follows him named JP. He asks who Tommy is since he came to see his grandmother. Tommy says she’s his grandmother too and he shows a photo from his childhood. JP responds by showing off a tattoo that has the same words on it that are on the back of the photo. They find out they are brothers.
JP was told their mother died. Tommy had no idea he had a sibling. He tells JP that Kate is a mess and he was better off not ever meeting her. Luckily, JP was raised by his dad and they were close.
Diamond wants a fresh start all around.
Jenard surprised Diamond with a barbershop he bought for him. It’s the one they grew up in. He wants to make sure his brother has a good start after prison. Diamond is beyond grateful. Jenard says this is what CBI, Chicago Brothers Incorporated, is all about. Diamond says prison changed him. He doesn’t want to do things like he used to with CBI. And he’s done killing people.
Before Diamond can leave the shop, a man comes in asking if he’s the new owner. Although he never says who he is, he calls Diamond by name and welcomes him back.
Tommy changes his plans.
While Tommy is en route to California, he’s followed by the Flynn family’s soldiers. He’s taken to the head of the family, Walter Flynn, whom his children refer to as Da. Walter is thankful for Tommy saving Vic’s life but Tommy is told to leave Chicago immediately. When Tommy gets back in the car, he tells Rodolfo that he’s not coming to California. He refuses to work for anyone ever again. He’s going to build his own operation in Chicago.
