The spin-off premieres.
The series premieres with Monique feeling fresh and new. She was feeling “reality show fatigue,” and was ready to move on from it until a conversation with EP Carlos King.
She’s setting up a “Not For Lazy Mom’s” pop-up shop and her friend Ashley makes an appearance. Ashley and Monique have been friends for years and met as both are podcasters in the “Mommy Space.”
Last but not least, Erana also appears at the pop-up shop. Erana and her family are “Tik Tok” famous and own multiple businesses. Monique says she met Erana by sliding into her DMs. Their other friend Winter appears and Monique is excited to see her so she can tell her inspirational story.
When Winter tells her story, she moves everyone. Well, everyone except Erana and Ashley. In fact, they joke about being bored. Afterward, the ladies speak about their experiences in marriage. In her interview, Monique says she and Chris were on the rocks after leaving the “other show.” Erana invites all of the ladies to her anniversary event.
Jamie’s a promoter who owns J&J Entertainment, a well-known primatial group on the east coast. He has a rocky relationship with his oldest son Lil Jamie. Erana invited him to the anniversary party but he may not appear. Jamie says he’ll be mad if his son doesn’t show up.
Ashley wants Quick to help out at home more.
Next, Ashley’s at home with her husband Quick, their two kids, and their puppy. Ashley feels overwhelmed because she doesn’t feel Quick helps out at home. Quick acknowledges this as his family is most important to him. But his obligations as a DJ, radio show host, and business owner are keeping him from spending more time at home.
Ashley puts her foot down, wanting Quick to support her. Quick says he’ll have her back.
Erana advises Lil Jamie to not disappoint his dad.
Later on, Erana is with Lil Jamie at a car lot. While out shopping, they talk about his relationship with Jamie. Lil Jamie acknowledges they aren’t close. Apparently, Lil Jamie is running the streets and Ashley pleads with Lil Jamie to do better. Lastly, she reminds him about the anniversary party and to show up.
It’s the night of Erana and Jamie’s 26th wedding anniversary party. Monique and Chris are excited about attending and really want to learn how they did it.
However, they are shocked to learn from her friend Winter broke up with her husband Kevin. Apparently, something drastic occurred and Kevin moved out of their home and back with his parents.
Next, Ashley and Quick show up at the party. Quick was running late as he left his evening radio show. In her interview, Ashley mentions how she feels Quick is overworked and needs to focus on home more.
Lastly, Erana and Jamie show up with Britney and their other son. Lil Jamie hasn’t arrived yet, however, Jamie isn’t hopeful his oldest will show up.
Oddly enough, Erana isn’t too interested in the “Q&A” from the other couples.
Lil Jamie and his father Jamie hash things out.
Eventually, Lil Jamie does show up. While Jamie is happy to see his son and partner, he hopes Lil Jamie doesn’t do anything to make him angry. Lil Jamie pulls his dad aside to talk. He mentions to his dad that he was hanging out with the wrong people and getting high every day. However, Lil Jamie tells his dad that he’s grown now and he doesn’t want to be treated like a child now. Jamie tells his son that not only does he love him, but he will also do better. As long as Lil Jamie is working and not getting high, he’ll be off his back.
Chris and Monique argue about a list.
The next day, Chris and Monique recap the party. They were disappointed about not hearing any gems from Erana and Jamie regarding their marriage. Monique says that they are guarded as they may have some deep things they went through.
During their conversation, Monique brings up Chris’ life coach and how she’s meeting with her now. Overall, she’s skeptical it’s not really working. Chris tells Monique to be patient. Things get tense when Monique asks about a list she wanted from Chris. This leads to an argument between the two.
Monique feels they won’t last another ten years if they can’t address their issues.
What are your thoughts about the series premiere?
I like Monique but meh, I’m not interested in her story line. The other couples might be interesting so I will watch the clips next weekend and decide if it’s worth my time.
