A storm is brewing.

The episode begins with a storm brewing. Billie and Darla are at the Queen Sugar mill as it appears the co-op decided to purchase the mill and land.

Meanwhile, Aunt Vi consoles Joaquin regarding his mother. Joaquin is lying to his brother about his mother as he doesn’t know where she is. She tells Joaquin to focus on what he can control which is school.

At the airport, Ralph Angel picks up Micah and mentions the gif. He also overhears Micah telling Zane he needs cash to pay for the card Zane maxed out in LA. Ralph Angel tells him it’s not a good idea to chase money.

The storm gets closer and Hollywood calls Aunt Vi in a panic. This a powerful storm and he wants them home ASAP. Joaquin’s brother is home and his knuckles are bruised. He got into another fight at school. Hollywood gives him advice and then offers to watch a video of Richard Pryor to cheer him up.

Calvin returns.

Eventually, Aunt Vi is about to head out and she calls Nova to check in on her. After the call, Nova goes to make sure she’s buttoned up when she sees Calvin at the door. Calvin needs a place to hunker down during the storm. Nova says she doesn’t want him in but he accepts when he asks to use a phone.

Darla’s at home with the baby when she calls Ralph Angel. She leaves a voicemail. Her phone rings and she picks up thinking it’s Ralph Angel but it’s Chase. She warns Chase to not call her again. Meanwhile, Micah and Ralph Angel ride by the Bordelon farm to make sure things are good at the farmhouse. The storm intensifies and they take shelter inside.

Meanwhile, Billie heads to Prosper’s house to stay with Sandy as he’s out of town. Benny’s there too to help with the generator and Billie is smitten.

Aunt Vi and Hollywood, later on, help Joaquin deal with a panic attack. He explains they started happening after his uncle died from a storm. They both continue to support and uplift Joaquin.

Calvin pleads with Nova.

Calvin’s still at Nova’s as the storm blows through and Nova lets it be known that their relationship is over. In spite of this, Calvin asks her not to give up on him.

As the storm continues, everyone loses power. Luckily they were prepared. Darla consoles True when Ralph Angel calls, letting her know he’s at the farmhouse. Billie and Sandy are also bonding over candlelight as Benny works on their generator. Sandy notices Billie is smitten with Benny. She then gives her advice on staying calm while in the heart of the storm.

Sandy then asks Billie to be her maid of honor and Billie happily agrees.

Later that night, Joaquin and his brother are sleeping through the storm. Aunt Vi and Hollywood talk about Joaquin and his uncle dying on the Bordelon farm. Hollywood says it’s their destiny to be in their lives.

Back at Nova’s, Nova and Calvin are still unpacking their past relationship. Nova says they had to face the fact their relationship just wasn’t going to work out. Things intensify yet Nova holds firm in the fact she’s moving on from Calvin. But that doesn’t stop Calvin from pulling her in close for a warm embrace.

At the farmhouse, Micah and Ralph Angel talk about the NFT when they hear a knock on the door. The person screams that they aren’t from the area and Ralph Angel reluctantly lets them in. The person reveals his name to be Chase.

Ralph Angel punches Chase.

Meanwhile, Nova lets Calvin know he needs to let her go. Calvin pleads with Nova but she doesn’t move from her stance. Specifically, Nova can’t get past Calvin being involved in the beating of a black man. At the end of their conversation, Calvin says he’s thankful for the love she shared with him.

As this happens, Darla tells Tru a bedtime story.

Back at the farm, Chase speaks about his incident, and Ralph Angel pieces together that he is the one that assaulted Darla. In response, he punches Chase and begins choking him.

Micah pulls Ralph Angel off of Chase and Chase is thrown out. Ralph Angel is furious because he suspects Darla kept this away from him and his life with Blue is at risk.

Eventually, the storm passes and Calvin gets ready to leave. But before he does, he mentions the favorite part of a book that speaks to their relationship that has come and passed. The message leaves Nova shedding a few tears as he leaves with both knowing this is the true end of their time together.
