It’s only been a few months since actor Michael Clarke Duncan’s death, but his fiancée  Omarosa Manigault hasn’t said much publicly about her loss besides telling Radar Online that she is devastated and he was the “love of her life.” The actor passed away last September in the hospital after he suffered a heart attack, and reports claimed Omarosa had previously tried to save his life by performing CPR. Sadly, she wasn’t able to save his life, and she’s been grieving in private and telling the media that she wasn’t ready to speak about her loss.

The Celebrity Apprentice star and now ordained minister is now speaking candidly about how she is grieving the loss of her loved one. In a recent interview with Essence Magazine, she admits that she hasn’t even moved any of his things since his passing and it’s actually become a way of healing for her.

She says:

“Firstly, I learned very early on in our journey that we wouldn’t have the benefit of having a private love affair. Our relationship was public, which also means his passing is public. And subsequently, my grieving is public. I’ve been mindful of that and I’ve tried to stay encouraged for people who come to me and say, ‘How have you been so strong?’ What I’ve learned is that if I trust God, he will carry me through the difficult times and challenges. And I’ve learned that I am equipped to deal with everything that life throws at me.

“I’m still in our home. Michael’s toothbrush is still in our bathroom; his jacket is still hanging on the hook. I live with the presence of Michael Clarke Duncan every day because everything is as he left it. I need time to decide to put away the toothbrush, or fold up the clothes that he threw over the back of the chair. But I haven’t done that and that’s my process of grieving. It’s unbelievable at times. I miss him every single day. It doesn’t get better, but you get better. So I’m working on getting better.”

  1. It’s got to be tough to lose your man before you even get to walk down the aisle. I didn’t even know they were together until his death, but it seems like they were happy in the pictures I did see. Just sad all around.

  2. The death of Michael was so unexpected as well as sad. I know some the feelings that Amarosa has. I too lost my soulmate in 2011 after 36 yrs. of marriage. It’s devestating!! I think about him everyday. It’s hard to get pass the death. I still have my husbands items. You’re stuck!! I’m still learning how to cope.

  3. I know how she feels, my mother past away four years ago and me and my brother haven’t touch her room, it still is like she left.I agree with her, it doesn’t get better, but you get better.I think of her every single day she was my best friend…….
