R&B singer Cassie’s time in the music industry hasn’t exactly been what she set out for it to be, and although she did have a smash hit with her first single “Me & U,” she hasn’t managed to find that kind of success with her other records. Since then, Cassie’s more so been making headlines and the gossip blogs for her romance with Diddy, and the couple finally went public with their romance after creeping around together for years. However, Cassie just wants to take another stab at her music career and after dropping a new mix tape (Rockabyebaby), it’s pretty clear that Cassie wants to be known for more than her love life. In a recent interview with Global Grind, Cassie talks about what it feels like to be an underdog, handling the constant criticism, and how she feels now that her relationship with Diddy is no longer a secret.
On being an underdog, Cassie says:
“I really have felt, over the past 4 or 5 years, as an underdog. I think that it’s better to be in a position of people counting you out than counting you in, because you can hit them with the craziest thing and they don’t expect it and I think that’s what this project has kind of done.
“People see me on my Instagram, on my Twitter, I’m at the studio, they’re like, ‘How long has this girl been at the studio?’
“For 5 years now.
“People are constantly saying stuff. But I think I’m a very chill person. I’m a Virgo, I’m very relaxed. I compete with myself. I’m not about trying to get attention. So I kind of just let it play out and let people deal their cards and now it’s my turn. I’ve accepted what people have said about me and accept what they’re going to say about me after they hear my body of work.”
Cassie also says that she’s very happy that her relationship with Diddy is no longer being kept as a secret from the public:
“I’m just happy and I think that’s the most important thing. Balancing your life and knowing where you fit in and where you stand. I’m just happy.”
although i do not like the hairstyle, I think Cassie is cute in those Forever 21 pictures.
Diddy is trying so hard to make Cassie the next J-Lo…oh wait, no he isn’t.

Cassie is a very pretty girl but she just doesn’t have that “it” factor.
Rihanna has made it so hard for all the other pretty no talent having chicks to shine…

Cassie just needs to become a full time model. The music thing is never going to pop off for her again. She can dance (or try to) all she wants, and rock these punk rocker chick hairstyles…it won’t help her. But modeling is something she can do and do very well.
