Be Thankful For What You Have

God provides us with everything that we need but we always want more.

By: Taren Vaughan

In life, some of us are blessed with the opportunity to have the “extras”: the fancy cars, the extravagant houses and more money than we can count. On the other hand, there are those that don’t have all of those things but yet and still they are living comfortably and have food to eat and clothes to put on their backs. You would think that merely having a place to lay your head at night would be good enough for most people but sadly that is not the case. Even when it seems like we have it all, we still want more and more; we are never pleased with the things that we have. What happened to just being thankful for the things that you’ve got?

We have all fallen victim to the “I want it all” syndrome at least once in our lives. We have the things that are necessary for us to survive on a day to day basis. A steady source of income and a roof over our heads should be more than enough right? But yet and still, we are unhappy because it’s just not enough for us. We want more.

Instead of being thankful for what we have, we constantly complain about what we lack. And nine times out of ten it’s something material. Seriously, you are not going to die if that $2000 suit stays on the rack. And if you never drive that cherry red BMW off the car lot, you will be just fine. There are so many people out here that wish they had half of the nice things that some of us have. And they would give anything to have a car that runs let alone a luxury one. Stop for a second and really think about how truly blessed you really are.

We may not have everything that we want. The reality is that most of us don’t. And we may not have all of things that we feel like we should possess. But one thing is for sure, God will never leave us without the things that we need.

We all know “God don’t like ugly”. But He sure doesn’t like greed either. Be thankful for what you have and the fact that God always provides you with what you need, which at the end of the day, is most important.
