Meeka Claxton, who appeared on a season of Vh-1’s polarizing reality show ‘Basketball Wives’ asks why did not anyone get outraged when she got her ass kicked?

Ex Basketball Wives castmember Meeka Claxton took to her blog to express her frustrations regarding the constant tweets she has been receiving on her twitter account. Meeka, wife of Craig “Speedy” Claxton, appeared on one season of the controversial show where she was physically attacked by Tami Roman. Meeka subsequently filed a police report and sued Tami, and left the cast.
Meeka writes,
For the last 3 months, my twitter has been flooded with these comments and hundreds more exactly like them. I said it on the reunion and I will say it again, I’m 32, a CEO, a wife and a mommy, I did not sign up for Bad Girls Club. As a mom, I am my daughters’ FIRST role model and as a black woman who has been given a platform, I have a responsibility to show young girls “better”.
Am I mad? No, more like I’m disappointed. When I was attacked everyone thought it was funny. No one thought her actions were disgraceful. As a matter of fact the very same ladies (for lack of a better word) that are “hurt” by the backlash, joked about me being attacked. They laughed and even called me names for taking a stand against her.
I thought pressing charges was wack? Oooooh, I get it…it’s wack when it’s not you!
One can only assume that Meeka feels some type of way since no one seemed to publicly be in her corner when she decided to press charges. While one could understand and empathize with how she feels, most would feel that she should be one of the first to stand behind those that want to see this show off of the air. She should perhaps stand behind the claims that were brought up by Tami and former Basketball Wives LA cast member Tanya Young. It is becoming increasingly obvious that Shad Media has been provoking the women, forcing the reactions we all have seen out of them for some time now.
What are your thoughts?
I never find it funny to watch people get physically attacked on television. I’m sure there were some people who found it funny for Tami to attack this girl, but I didn’t. I think there was more of an outrage this season because Jenn has a larger fan base than Meeka, and the violence was more consistent than it’s ever been. Tami is a monster that was created when people started praising her for being so “real.” Now she’s the biggest bully on the show.
All these women need to have several seats. It’s beyond played. All of them look like fools for being associated with this mess. But sadly the show was renewed for another season, so they aren’t going anywhere anytime soon.
I’m pretty sure there wasn’t a movement then because there wasn’t as much violence as it is now. If she feels the way she says she does, she should join the movement in getting the show canceled.
Yeah, I kind of wish they would all disappear. But this whole train wreck brings in the bulk of the ratings at VH1. Despite all that protesting, they are not getting rid of their money maker. And all this talk about increasing the peace and all that is another lie to get people to shut up. And we all know most of these same folks will be watching next season like they never signed that petition.
I came here with so many punchlines, but the title is funnier than anything else I could have typed in this here comment box. Kudos.
