K. Michelle came busting on the scene with a big voice and big story behind the struggles she encountered in the music industry. One of the R&B singer’s biggest talking points on the first season of Love And Hip Hop Atlanta was the alleged abusive relationship she had with Toya Wright’s husband Memphitz. Although Toya and Memphitz have both denied the claims, K. Michelle has stood by her claims. But Memphitz eventually pursued legal action, and filed suit against Mona Scott Young’s company and VH1. Besides a few shots on Instagram and Twitter, and one or two interviews earlier in the year, Memphitz hasn’t said much about the situation. But one thing many have always wondered is how the controversy with K. Michelle affected Memphitz and Toya’s marriage.
In a recent interview with Hello Beautiful, Memphitz says that none of the drama has affected his marriage. And despite what people think, his marriage to Toya remains strong.
He says:
“It hasn’t affected my relationship. I basically told my wife all of this and even when me and my wife were dating. I basically told her everything that I was going through with that person and the type of stuff that was going on. She was telling me all the stuff that was going on in the relationship she was in with this football player, whatever. I told her everything about this person and as soon as I got wind there was gonna be a show coming out, I told her, that’s the girl. She was like, ‘Oh.’ I used to play Michelle’s music. It wasn’t anything foreign to my wife. When it started happening, my wife was coming at me like, ‘wow you said that.’ I’m not tripping. My wife is cool. I feel that me and my wife have such great communication skills that by the time something is floating around or coming up, we’ve already discussed or joked about it.”
K. Michelle hasn’t responded to the interview yet, but we doubt she will since she has a new boo and just started recording her album this week. She writes to her fans on Instagram:
Meh, I still think he did it. #shrugs
Whatever. He acted like he was guilty to me.
Whatever Memphitz. Sigh…
He’s still holding to Lil Wayne’s money I see.
Well I really hope K. Michelle doesn’t respond to this.
