Music great Lauryn Hill has gained millions of diehard fans over the years since her days as the only female emcee holding it down in the legendary rap group the Fugees. And when she broke out and did her own thing as a solo artist, Lauryn came hard with her classic album The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill that to this day continues to get talked about as true R&B music has been struggling to compete with other genres. Lauryn blamed her hiatus from music on the issues that she had with the politics behind the music industry and during her break from the music world, Lauryn continued to be hit with money troubles that were continuing to pile up for her. Even though a Fugees reunion is not likely to go down at this point, especially after Lauryn’s ex band mate Wyclef Jean decided to put out a tell-all book where he spilled much tea about his past affair with Lauryn, Lauryn Hill delivered some exciting news to her fans, informing them that she has snagged herself a new record deal with Sony Music and was on her way to putting out some new music. Rapper Eve has Hip-Hop heads extra crunk with the new music that she dropped recently. And now Lauryn Hill is looking to do the same as she just released new song ‘Neurotic Society (Compulsory Mix)’.
And to let her fans know that her new music was finally here, Lauryn Hill took to her Tumblr page and shared the good news with them, addressing the tragic passing of Chris Kelly of Kriss Kross as well.
Lauryn writes:
Hello All:
Here is a link to a piece that I was ‘required’ to release immediately, by virtue of the impending legal deadline. I love being able to reach people directly, but in an ideal scenario, I would not have to rush the release of new music… but the message is still there. In light of Wednesday’s tragic loss (of former label mate Chris Kelly), I am even more pressed to YELL this to a multitude that may not understand the cost of allowing today’s unhealthy paradigms to remain unchecked!
