Jada Pinkett Smith is clearly one of today’s most vocal celebrities when it comes to her personal life, however, being outspoken and frequently voicing her opinions on her Facebook page hasn’t managed to slow down the speculation surrounding her marriage. Although Will and Jada have been together nearly 16 years (which is practically forever in Hollywood), there are always reports suggesting the couple’s romance is on the rocks and a divorce is impending. In addition to some people counting down the days until the marriage is officially over, the couple is also a constant target of rumors claiming that they have an open marriage. Although Jada attempted to shut down the rumors and stated the marriage isn’t open but she and Will are capable of making their own decisions regarding being faithful to one another, many still mistakenly took the denial as confirmation of an open marriage. In a recent interview with the Associated Press, Jada opens up about how she and Will deal with the public’s intense criticism of their marriage, and Willow Smith’s plans to make a big comeback to the music scene.

Willow recently told her famous parents she wanted to take a break from music and be a 12-year-old, however, Jada says Willow hasn’t totally abandoned the idea of taking another shot at a music career and still dedicates time to getting better at the craft:

“She was supposed to star in “Annie” and Willow has decided not to. … She decided that she wants to be 12 and says right now she’s really concentrating on music skills. She’s taking piano lessons, taking her singing lessons every day and writing. She’s really just developing herself. … She’s taking her time to develop her skills, so when she feels like people are ready to know the real Willow, then she will make a comeback.”

Jada also says the criticism surrounding her marriage to Will doesn’t faze her, and they have learned to deal with it as a couple:

“They’re quite easy obstacles. When I really think about what people are going through in the world today, and dealing with people’s speculations is one thing. And knowing simply that that’s all that it is. (laughs) When you’re living your truth and you understand your truth, things get very easy. They get less complicated at least, so I’m very blessed. I am very blessed, so speculations I can deal with.”

  1. I really respect Jada. She’s such a strong woman. She really doesn’t let what the public thinks get to her. #MuchRespect

  2. I honestly think one of the reasons Jada and Will are still together is because they learned not to care so much about other people’s opinions.
