Keyshia Cole’s husband Daniel “Boobie” Gibson is currently a free agent in the NBA, and many seem to think his recent altercation in New Orleans could hurt his chances of getting signed to another team post his time with the Cleveland Cavaliers. As we reported recently, Daniel was arrested for second degree battery on Monday, but he later released a statement claiming he had to fight because a random man had made some profane comments about his R&B singer wife. The man he did allegedly assault suffered from a broken jaw, and he’s telling the media he didn’t do anything wrong and only walked up to Keyshia to tell her he loves that she always “keeps it real.” But a witness who claims they saw the whole thing go down says that’s BS and the man really did provoke Daniel to fight by disrespecting Keyshia Cole. The Cleveland Leader reports:
A day after former Cleveland Cavalier guard Daniel Gibson was booked on a felony battery charge, cell phone footage of the incident has been unearthed. The man who shot the video says that Gibson was provoked after a man insulted his wife, singer Keyshia Cole.
“He was definitely provoked. He was minding his own business, trying to leave. The guy says something foul to him, disrespecting Keyshia Cole. He did what a regular gentleman would to and protected his lady,” the man told WGNO News.
Daniel also claimed in his statement that as more details come out about the altercation, he feels his image will be redeemed. No word yet on when he will actually release more details though.
Protected his lady? How is he protecting Keyshia when the man didn’t touch her? This is still not a good look for a NBA player trying to stay in the lague.
I’m sure Keyshia’s violent, ghetto, and angry a-s is proud. Instead of being a real woman and telling her man some jerk isn’t worth fighting and being plastered on TMZ for, she probably thought it was cute. Good luck getting signed now Boobie.

Agreed. I think Keyshia should have let him know fighting wasn’t necessary. Yu should want the best for your man.
I’m married and I personally wouldn’t want my husband to fight. What if this man had a gun or knife on him and killed Boobie? Then what? There will always be a-sholes out here. If they don’t touch you first, walk away. It’s not worth it and my husband’s life means more to me than my pride.
Not married, but I completely agree. People out here are crazy, I think people should just walk away from fights these days.
Not married (lol) but I completely agree. You never know what someone has in their pocket or in their pants/car. Just walk away. I know some people would say that’s a cowardly move, but why die to prove a point?
I understand why he did what he did, but the trouble he’s in now isn’t worth it.
Yeah but now the guy will win the real fight because Boobie is going to have to pay up. He’s a free agent and BET hasn’t paid them for the reality show. And let’s be real, Keyshia’s career is lukewarm. Sometimes you have to use your brain and not your emotions.
Cool. Well he can protect his lady and pay off that lawsuit that’s on the way.
If he threw the first punch, he’s not getting off the hook for this.
He wasn’t protecting his wife, he was letting his ego get the best of him. That man did not touch his wife and probably never tried to. He’s the one that went to jail, not the other guy.
Oh boy! I hope he learns from this and uses his head(not emotions) and better judgment in the future. It’s not worth it, just walk away. Assault was not the proper reaction to a person who was being verbally abusive. His ego got the best of him and this hopefully will not put an end to his career.
