If you’ve been paying attention to social media for the last several months, then I’m sure you all know twerking is the latest craze. The dance pretty much became a household name when Miley Cyrus decided to put on that unicorn costume and twerk to a rap song by J. Dash. Although twerking isn’t anything new, its popularity is and all across the world people of all races and backgrounds are dropping their knees low and popping their backsides with the best of them. Parents have made it clear they are not happy with the dance movement because it looks as if it’s a tad bit too sexual for their young kids to do, and the dance caused quite a bit of a stir recently at a high school after numerous students decided they wanted to record themselves twerking at school and post it to YouTube. It got them in some serious trouble as they were also suspended and banned from their own prom over the video that ended up becoming national news.
But now it appears rapper Juicy J. wants to bring a little positivity to the whole twerking craze, as he hopped on his Twitter account and alerted his female fans that he would be giving away a $50,000 scholarship to the best twerker. He tweets:
im giving out a 50k scholarships to the best chick that can twerk
Producer Dr. Luke also took to his Twitter account to promote Juicy’s latest venture:
@therealjuicyj The Juicy J Scholarship Foundation !!!! Twerk your way thru college. #GivingBack
We’re not sure if Juicy J. is rethinking the offer or if maybe there was just too much backlash, but hours later he deleted the tweet. But we’re asking you, was the offer demeaning or was it really a good offer? Speak on it below.
Anything to promote that struggle album huh, Juicy?
I still don’t get the hype for twerking! We’ve been doing it forever and we just used to call it booty shaking!
This world is going to hell.
As many people twerk for free and YouTube views, why not twerk for a college education?!
LOL. I’m glad he backed away from that.
Smh! He had to be smoking to think this was a good idea.
I blame Sallie Mae and these colleges it’s so expensive to get an education. This is opening door for antics like this.
As many women who love twerking for absolutely no reason as all, no one should be mad at this.
I wouldn’t take the offer, but it just reminds me that we have to get these student loan issues in this country under control. ASAP.
As much money as I owe Sallie Mae, you damn right I’ll twerk for $50,000! *twerks out of post*
LOL!
*Twerks with Jamaica, and looks back at it*
Yall are some fools lol
You bout to get me fired lol I just busted out laughing. I ain’t gon lie I would be tempted to take him up on his offer for real.
Lol I just got an extra 500 words for laughing out loud in class, but I hope it wasnt a joke I already started practicing to be the coldest shoot Sallie Mae robbing me!!
Hilarious! Happy Friday loves!
Happy Friday boo. 🙂
Happy Friday chicas!
Shoot I have a few friends that wont mind doing something strange for a piece of change… shoot twerk for perks… I see nothing wrong it lol… if you twerk for free why not twerk for a few bucks but I think this was joke but not a bad idea hahaha….
I think this was terrible. As offended as we get about other things, this should’ve been no different. The reality of the situation is that it’s demeaning and disrespectful. Twerking for money……well, that’s equivalent to stripping, minus the nudity….but the exploitation is all the same. Talk about our black men not havin respect for us? And downing us in public? This right here is floating in that same ol’ boat. It’s sad…… If he has 50,000 he wants to put towards someone’s college career, let it be because of grades….talents….achievements….or something more beneficial and inspiring that’ll cause our YOUNG PEOPLE to want to do more than use their bodies for money.
We can do better…..smh 🙁
