Meagan Good is regarded as one of the sexiest actresses in Black Hollywood, however the actress’ sultry appeal has caused quite a bit of criticism over her new marriage to pastor DeVon Franklin. It didn’t take people too long to criticize the union considering they don’t feel Meagan is First Lady material, and the actress may have worsened the skepticism after she walked out on stage to present a Gospel Award for the 2013 BET Awards in a very sexy dress. In a social media driven world, it was only a matter of seconds before her dress became a popular subject on Twitter and Instagram, and many felt she was out of line for wearing the dress to present a Gospel Award. Meagan defended herself on Instagram, and slammed those who judged her relationship with God.

Meagan has been very clear in the past about her thoughts about people criticizing her for what she wears and she even checked some of Kanye West’s critics the other day on Twitter for saying that he wasn’t a real Christian based off naming his last album “Yeezus” and calling himself a god. But in a recent interview with VLAD TV, Meagan says the controversy surrounding her dress was another reminder that she is often misjudged and she feels it’s her responsibility to help women like her who are often mislabeled by society. On the backlash she received over the dress, she says:

“I was shocked. I was shocked that people cared so much. I guess it’s because I’m married to a minister. Some people feel like I should wear a turtle neck or something but that’s not who I am. If that’s not what God tells me to do then I’m not going to do that to make other people comfortable. I’m comfortable with me, I love me. And I feel like I speak to girls and women that are like me…That are often misjudged and often looked down or talked about because people don’t get their heart or their spirit based off something as small as what they might choose to wear that day. So I try to be love and light to them, I try to do what I can to build God’s kingdom and reach people that I immediately connect with because we are similar.”

  1. I’m not sure why she keeps acting all shocked by the scrutiny she’s facing as a first lady. All pastor wives go through the same thing and have for years.

  2. I really like Meagan but she just has to eventually understand that she’s married now and she is now a representation of her husband and his church. People are watching.

  3. She is a beautiful woman. On topic: I get what she’s saying but Christians have been taught that you have to be a certain what if you are a follower of Christ. When she steps out in a dress showing all her cleavage, that goes against what was taught in most churches.

        1. Yes ma’am. I can’t remember which interview it was or when but she said they were tattooed on because she got tired of getting them done all the time.

  4. Meagan Good isn’t very smart what did she expect to happen when she married a minister. She also didn’t help when she started talking more and more about God her marriage and how she changed that opened the door for more criticism.

  5. Oh girl please stop. Every First Lady is scrutinized. Michelle Obama isn’t even a religious First Lady but they criticize her every move. This is what you signed up for. Put on your big girl panties and stop whining.

  6. Meagan has come a long way from wearing those same tight leather pants, chain smoking and being BFFs with Khloe Kardashian. I’m happy for her.

  7. I honestly just think a lot of women are jealous of Meagan. Think about it. To them she was a major tramp, hung out with the Kardashians and smoked cigarettes all day. And because of that they think she didn’t deserve a husband and definitely not the good husband she got while they remain single. It’s just jealousy.

  8. I understand it’s frustrating, but you’re in the public eye all the time. This is what comes with it, she just needs to learn to deal or ignore it. No celebrity lifestyle comes without criticism. It is what it is. Be happy you have a husband to come home to that doesn’t view it that way.
