‘Growing Up Hip Hop’ Recap: Pepa’s Hairdresser Takes Shots at Kristinia + Boogie Finds Trouble

Chaos erupts at Romeo’s dinner in New Orleans.

The episode begins where the season premiere left off. Romeo’s cousin Lil One strikes Romeo’s former friend Kendrick and a brawl ensues. Romeo’s posse proceeds to jump Kendrick while Romeo stands off to the side. Eventually, Kendrick is pushed out of the restaurant, possibly down a flight of stairs.

Romeo is angry at everyone for what happened, which causes damage to the restaurant.

“Lil’ One made a stupid choice; That’s family. Kendrick made a stupid choice; that’s on him.” – Romeo

Eventually everyone with Romeo gets on the bus and then confronts Lil One. However, in Romeo’s green screen interview, he expresses frustration with the disloyalty Kendrick showed by talking about Romeo and his family.

Romeo also feels that the altercation will cause en even wider divide between him and his father Master P.

Kristinia isn’t pleased with Briana’s antics at her party.

In L.A., Kristinia is out to eat with Briana so they can recap what happened at Kristinia’s birthday party. Briana admits to being intoxicated when she arrived at the party and said she thinks she had a really good time because of this.

“I drank before I got there. I drank while I was there. I drank when I left. My mission was accomplished. I planned on getting s**tfaced at your party. I ended up barefoot at a taco truck, so I think I know I had a good time.” – Briana

Kristinia wants to talk about the confrontation between Briana and Angela. Briana told Kristinia that Angela was offended by being called a b***h. She feels disrespected by Briana causing a scene.

At the end of their lunch, Briana tells Kristinia she still doesn’t care for Angela.

At the Spin Awards, Romeo says security notified Master P about the brawl at the restaurant. As a result, Master P is mad and not talking to Romeo. However, they put their differences aside to perform at the awards show.

Boogie reveals another devastating secret.

Boogie is at Dame’s house in L.A. chilling by the pool. He first texts Romeo that he needs to talk about something really important. Romeo tells him that they will link up. Meanwhile, Dame walks to him, giving Boogie another lecture about starting a business. Boogie says he sounds like a teacher from the “Peanuts” cartoon.

Boogie’s demeanor changes when Dame wants to show him the ropes in his new business venture; growing and selling Marijuana in Nevada. However, Boogie got another DUI. He’s not ready to tell Dame though.

“How am I supposed to run a weed business? I don’t know how this will work out.” – Boogie

Boogie goes inside and looks at the DUI paperwork, calling his lawyer Chad. He gets an office appointment with the lawyer.

Vanessa doesn’t appreciate Briana dissing Angela.

Kristinia invites Deja and Vanessa to work out. Vanessa arrives late when the workout is complete but they talk about what happened at the party. Kristinia tells Vanessa what happened with Briana and Angela and Vanessa is pissed.

She doesn’t like Briana “sneak dissing” Angela. But Kristinia says Briana is different because she feels like she has to prove something to the rest of them because she’s isn’t the offspring of a celebrity.

Despite this, Vanessa doesn’t look past her issues with Angela. She really wants to handle these issues before turning to anything else.

“I feel like since we’re both moms, we should be closer.” – Vanessa

Kristinia then tells the girls she is ready to focus on her career and get things going. She reveals she has been working with a producer named Adonis, on and off for seven years.

She says he ha worked with J-Lo and Beyoncé and they are together all of the time.

Angela and Romeo recap what happened in New Orleans.

At Romeo’s house, Angela stops by and they talk about everything since he left. Romeo says he is “woke,” paying attention to who is around him. He explains what happened at the restaurant with Kendrick and Lil One.

Romeo reveals to Angela that Master P is pissed but is really more pissed at their cousin Lil One for escalating it. Angela tells him that he needs to make sure people around him are trustworthy, referencing the situation she had with Briana at the party.

“You don’t want to bring back around a person that you’re not sure is a snake or not.” – Angela

While they are talking, Vanessa texts her asking to talk about what happened at the party.

Cousin Tee Tee arrives to look after Egypt.

Pepa and Egypt are at their new home in L.A. when Tee Tee arrives. Pepa says Tee Tee is her niece and loves her very much. She wants her around to look after Egypt while she goes out on tour.

“I trust Tee Tee to watch Egypt.” – Pepa

However, Egypt feels that Tee Tee around will give her more freedom. Tee Tee freaks out when Pepa mentions the house may be haunted.

Boogie’s lawyer delivers some pretty bad news.

Boogie visits Chad to talk about the second DUI. Boogie tells him he went to his friend’s house and had a few drinks. Although he does have pictures, he only remembers waking up with the keys in his hands, going for a drive afterwards.

This infuriates Chad who tells him that this could really affect the case. He then lines up what could happen to Chad if convicted for a DUI. He is also driving with a suspended license.

Chad asks him if he drinks a lot and Boogie says no.

Chad then charges him $5,000 to for his services this go around. Boogie is taken back by the amount but agrees to it. When asked if he going to tell Dame, Boogie says no.

Egypt and Tee Tee are spooked by “ghosts.”

Egypt is at home shooting a group text to the other cast members, inviting them to her mom’s concert in L.A. Suddenly, the freezer door slowly open, creeping Egypt out. She runs up to Pepa’s room and jumps into the bed. Tee Tee, comes in moments later saying she heard a ghost in her room.

Pepa thinks they are freaking out just a bit much. Despite this, she agrees to call in a medium to come in and get rid of the ghosts.

Deja and Vanessa are shopping for sunglasses. They are also talking about Vanessa’s fashion week show for her new clothing line. Deja also asks if Vanessa is going to the concert and Vanessa says she wants to avoid Briana.

Deja tells Vanessa if she gets into an altercation with Briana, she has her back. Vanessa definitely feels that an altercation may happen if she goes.

“You have to defend your little sister. I mean, that’s my little sister.” – Vanessa

Master P. warns Romeo to get control of his friends.

Romeo stops by Master P’s house to talk about everything that happened in New Orleans. Master P tells him that Romeo should’ve handled the situation differently with Kendrick. He’s also tells Romeo that he doesn’t want Lil One around him.

“This could’ve been a life and death situation.” – Master P

Master P then tells him that he needs to do what he needs to do to squash everything so it won’t mess with the No Limit comeback.

“One wrong mistake, ain’t no coming back.” – Master P

Kristinia feels frustrated about her music, but Adonis has something up his sleeve.

Kristinai meets Adonis at the studio. They chat about the music. Kristinia feels frustrated with everything being stagnant. She feels if nothing pops off, it may never happen.

Adonis, assures her that everything is okay and he is planning something big for her and the music.

She then heads into the booth to lay vocals.

Egypt introduces Briana to her cousin and the ladies hit things off well.

It’s the day of the concert and Peppa arrives for the sound check. Meanwhile, Briana is riding with two of her friends to the concert. They openly wonder if Angela and Vanessa will be there.

In the dressing room, Troy, Peppa’s hairdresser tells Egypt and Tee Tee that Briana is at the concert already drunk. Egypt is nervous about Tee Tee meeting Briana after what happened at Kristinia’s party. Troy tells them to be ready for Briana being extra.

They leave the dressing room and meet Briana in the concert hall. Egypt introduces Briana to Tee Tee and they are very cordial at first. But, Briana makes it weird when asked if she’s enjoying the concert.

“It’s not that I hate the 90’s, it’s that it’s a difficult time for me. I was very alone in the 90’s.” – Briana

Briana mentions in tan interview that she was eating “Kraft singles and drinking Kool-aid” before Kendu met Mary J. Blige.

Egypt isn’t comfortable with Briana’s vibe and feels another altercation could take place, especially when Briana is asked her age. But, Tee Tee rides with Briana’s vibe when they start talking the Red Hot Chilli Peppers.

As a result, they invite Briana to an after party.

Chad spills some pretty hot tea about Adonis and Kristinia.

Back at Peppa’s dressing room, Pepa lets them know who’s coming to the concert. When things turn to Kristinia, Troy tells the ladies she has a rep.

“Don’t turn up too much with her. She’s got a little rep, though.” -Troy

According to Troy, she apparently earned this rep sleeping with Adonis, who is married, and he says it was a “big thing.”

The ladies are shocked by this revelation from Troy. He proceeds to go in on Kristinia, saying she did all of that and didn’t get any hit music from it.

“No, the worst thing is that you’re skeein’ and people find out your business and you still don’t have a hit. That is the worst thing.” – Troy

When asked if it was just Adonis, Troy tells them that she also slept with other producers.

Pepa jumps in and says, “Leave that girl alone.” In an interview, Pepa says she knows both Kristinia and Troy but didn’t know they were getting down like that.

“Rumors can escalate and almost like, and almost like interfere with your craft, your gift.” – Pepa

Pepa tries to defend Kristinia to Egypt and Troy. But when she says, “she can blow,” Adonis responds with, “Can she ever!”

She then says sleeping with a producer can make it hard for a woman trying to make it in the industry.

Master P. meets Pepa and the cast in the back before she hits the stage. He seems star struck and Egypt thinks he may be flirting with her mom.

After their performance, Boogie and Dame visit Pepa and Egypt in the dressing room. Dame, starting lecturing Boogie and Egypt about figuring out their career. Boogie ignores him. Boogie reveals in his green screen interview that his father’s overbearing antics may be a trigger for his drinking.

“My father is always on my back about making money. It makes me want to drink.” – Boogie

Briana doesn’t care about Angela not liking her and Boogie isn’t taking the warnings from Chad seriously.

Briana meets Egypt and Tee Tee after the concert. Briana asks if Angela and Vanessa made it to the concert and they tell her no. Briana suspects that they didn’t show up because they didn’t want to see her. They ask Briana why they wouldn’t show up and she says, “it’s because I rub people the wrong way with my hellos.”

Briana doesn’t seem to care either way about it. In her green screen interview, she says:

“It would’ve been nice to see Angela and Vanessa here together so they can address me like an adult and tell me they don’t like me. But word on the street is they don’t even like each other, so (blows raspberry).” – Briana

After the show, Boogie stops by a bar when he leaves the concert by himself. He says he is having trouble keeping his drinking a secret. He didn’t drink at the concert but once he got alone, he found a bar for some time to think and indulge in alcohol.

“Keeping secrets is stressful. Tonight I’m in the mod to drink.” – Boogie
