She agrees.

Shawn later warns her against giving Mo permission to do the show because he thinks it will give Mo an even bigger ego. Maxine says she knows how to deal with Mo.

In the dressing room, Maxine tells the ladies that since they got the DTA, they need to keep doing what’s been working for them. She later gets a subpoena requesting phone records from 2006, but tells the ladies that the envelope contains gift cards to Bed, Bath & Beyond from Oprah.

Shawn tells Nina that the subpoena was rescinded and Nina questions how Maxine was able to make it happen. She also tells Shawn that it’s suspicious to her that Maxine is doing so much to stop the investigation. To her, it just seems like Maxine has something to hide.

Later, Maxine meets with Anna at her new job and questions why Maxine fired her from the Lunch Hour. Anna tells Nina she has proof that Maxine murdered Ted.

Maxine tells Kibby she will handle it and she needs to get off drugs.

When Maxine confronts Kibby’s mother about Vance, she tells Maxine that she needs to mind her business.

Mo gets the bright idea to expose Vance during a stand up segment on the show. She tells viewers that Vance is a predator and Kibby is a victim he also introduced to drugs.

Not too long after, social media blows up in defense of Vance and Mo is fired from the sitcom.

Anna comes to the studio to confront Nina for stealing the tape, and Nina tells her she is getting the tape scrubbed for clarification.

Anna tells Maxine that she is doing the story with Nina, and Maxine later tells Nina she knows about the Pulitzer. Nina tells her she will drop the story if Maxine just comes clean with Shawn about who killed Ted.

Maxine advises Kibby to reach out to Vance’s other victims and she makes a PSA with another one of his victims. The video goes viral on social media.

Nina comes to Maxine and tells her she realizes Shawn is the one who killed Ted.

Maxine tells her that Shawn was high on drugs and really drunk that night. He got into a shouting match with Ted and threw him on the floor. Ted’s head hit the floor and he died instantly.

William came by to help Maxine clean up the place and get Shawn out of there. She said they were just friends at the time.

Nina apologizes and says she will get Anna to back off.

Nina calls Anna and tells her that the tape was accidentally destroyed during the scrubbing. Anna now has to halt the story.

He’s elated to see Ella on stage and even calls her his daughter. This touches Heather.

Anna discovers the truth.

Anna figures out that Shawn killed Ted and calls Detective Stagliano to give him an update as a panicked Nina looks on.

Maxine and Nina try to talk Anna out of moving forward with the story and they end up making a deal to protect Shawn.

The deal is Maxine must go on air and admit to accidentally killing Ted in self defense.

Nina will also admit to stealing her Pulitzer.

Maxine makes her confession on air and she is arrested during the show.

As Maxine is being taken away, Nina tells Anna that Shawn must never learn the truth but she discovers him listening to the tape when she gets to her dressing room.
