Lawrence’s son is born.

The moon is full as Issa and Lawrence broke up outside of her apartment. When Issa walks away, Lawrence gets into his car bewildered and drives back to his place. His apartment is packed up as he’s getting ready to move to San Francisco.

After a time jump, Lawrence wakes up in his San Fran place and heads to his new job. During a meeting, Lawrence speaks up about wanting to support a tech clothing startup.

During a date, the small talk was interrupted due to an urgent text. Condola had the baby. He rushed back to Los Angeles and made a beeline to the hospital. He arrives in Condola’s hospital room where her sister and mother are present.

It’s the first time Lawrence meets Condola’s family and holds his baby, despite seemingly not liking the name Elijah Mustafa.

Afterward, he crashes at his friend’s place, and he vents about the whole experience and seemingly being left out. He decides to join Condola during the first baby’s doctor visit. Lawrence does his best to stay involved but Condola is seemingly boxing him out. She even planned the baptism without him. Lawrence wants to come down every week to spend time with their son and Condola agrees.

Things get awkward between Condola and Lawrence.

Later on, Lawrence returns back home to San Francisco and is building a crib in anticipation of having his son with him. During the Baptism, Lawrence’s parents criticized him for how the Baptism went down. He then tries to get Condola to let him take their son for a week.

Eventually, Lawrence gets exhausted from his work and tells Condola he can’t make it down from San Francisco. In Los Angeles, Condola’s sister expresses her frustration with Lawrence not returning. But the next, day, Lawrence continues to build out his son’s crib. Condola sends him a text about a birthday party for Derek and Tiffany’s daughter Simone. Condola asks if they should go together with their baby. After a long pause, Lawrence agrees.

During the birthday, they run into Kelli, Derek, and Tiffany. Lawrence and Kelli make small talk and Kelli says Issa and Molly are “thriving.” An argument between Condola and Lawrence ensues when Lawrence introduces solid foods to Elijah. Derek intervenes before things get worse. He then gives advice about learning to communicate.

Things reach a breaking point.

Eventually, Lawrence makes it back to San Francisco and tries to take Derek’s advice. A montage scene gets underway where Lawrence celebrates success at work and enjoys his dating life while Condola seemingly struggles to be a single mom. One night before Lawrence comes to town, he texts Condola to see if it’s okay if he takes their son back with him overnight. Condola replies, “sure.”

When Lawrence arrives, Condola struggles to let Elijah go with him. This leads to an argument between the two. Lawrence tells Condola that he will do whatever it takes to get his son. Condola responds in kind saying, “Get the f**k out of my house.”

To make things worse, Lawrence’s flight hits turbulence on the way home which seemingly spooks him. After the flight, Lawrence makes it home, sits on his couch, and stares at the crib. Meanwhile, Lawrence calls Condola and apologizes. He tells her that this isn’t working. She agrees and he asks, “What do we do?”
