LAMDC was Monique Samuels’ greatest nightmare.

Monique Samuels departed “Real Housewives of Potomac” after she assaulted Candiace Dillard Bassett while the cameras were rolling. Some fans hoped she would eventually make her way back to RHOP. However, she instead starred in the debut season of “Love & Marriage: DC” Monique and Carlos King promoted LAMDC ahead of the show’s premiere, insisting viewers would finally be able to see the real Monique. Interestingly enough, Monique received a lot of backlash from LAMDC viewers. They felt like she was nothing more than a nagging and ungrateful wife to Chris Samuels at the time. After the first season of LAMDC wrapped up, Chris and Monique left the show. They are now divorced.

Monique recently opened up about her experience on LAMDC and her time on RHOP in a new interview with Mr. Jay Hill Network.

She said LAMDC was her “greatest nightmare.”

“‘Love & Marriage: DC,’ let me tell you, that was my greatest nightmare but my greatest teacher. It basically…it put me out there without any context. Like on this show, when I tell you I was ranting and raving. I was at my wit’s end with the marriage. And I was doing all that I could to try to get this dude to see time is of the essence. I really need you to step up like wake up.”

Monique continued, “Imagine you being on camera and having a conversation and now something’s said in the conversation, and now something’s said in the conversation that pops you off. They not showing nothing about that, they just showing you pop off. When I tell you it was like every single scene I was yelling and I was going off. And when I tell you the whole synopsis of the show was get to know the real, full me. Get to know the real me…and they got me like only had me yelling and acting crazy.”

She also didn’t hold back her thoughts on Carlos.

“He approached me with support and came to me with some, ‘You know we Black. These white shows, they don’t show Black people in the light that they should be shown in. You know it can be natural drama. It doesn’t have to be this scripted drama.’ And it created a relationship of alright, let’s see what we can do together. Let’s work together. So I believed him when he used the Black card. And he did me worse than the white folks. I was like he could have at least waited til the second season to trash me.”

Monique Samuels said Carlos King did her worse than Bravo executives.

Jay Hill asked, “So you think ‘Love & Marriage: DC’ did you worse than ‘Real Housewives of Potomac?'”

Monique answered, “Yeah, it was worse.”

She added, “It was just like we got her. Dog her *** out. It was like my name was used to gain the audience and I felt like I got trashed on that show. They didn’t show any of my real moments where I gave more context to what was happening.”

Monique feels like all viewers saw was her reactions and never what she was reacting to.

“It was me reacting. Show why I was reacting like that. And it was very unorganized on camera, off camera. It was a mess. I left after the first season.”

She also said that she picked the cast and had a lot of input on how the show should be. So Monique didn’t expect things to unfold the way they did.

The altercation with Candiace was also addressed. Monique said that she realized that she had some unresolved traumas she had to deal with. And Candiace didn’t deserve what happened.

Monique isn’t the first to call out Carlos and express disappointment with her time on LAMDC. Winter Harris made similar comments before she exited the show.

In related news, Candiace is officially a mother. The RHOP alum recently confirmed to People Magazine that Baby Jett Maxwell Lee made his debut to the world on October 3rd and she’s ready for more children.

Congrats to Candiace and Chris Bassett! See their pics here.

  1. I think tv messed Chris & Monique up…more Monique than Chris.
Being on LAMDC…new platform she thought that people would forget her stint on RHOP. To me, she carried that bone with her. We watched it!

  2. Carlos uses the same toxic formula for all of his shows. And you can guarantee his shows will always have at least one black woman being ganged up on and villainized. The toxic men on his shows never get the same treatment. Unfortunately, some gay men are very misogynistic.

    1. You’re totally on point. Carlos King just mad he can’t be a woman and the more attractive the more his hatred of women come out. Oprah he’s killing your Network.

  3. Congrats to Candi pants! I miss Candiace AND Monique. I hated how their friendship ended. That aside, Carlos will get his karma one day like everyone else. He was supposed to be better than Andy. His ego is out of control.

  4. I wholeheartedly believe LMDC played a part in their divorce,They should have bowed out after RHOP.We live and we learn, hope they are happy.

  5. Monique was ganged up on and victimized. Funny how people only notice the reaction. Just like she said, “Production doesn’t show what happens before the outbreak”. I believe her. Sometimes marriages don’t last forever. When one can see a discernment, they flee. Good for her for protecting her Peace.

  6. I miss Monique on both shows, I feel she was mistreated by both productions by showing her only negative light. Just as they do to the unpopular person on any of these reality shows. Which is why I’m slowly stopping my viewing of these shows. I’m tired of women (especially black women) always being negatively shown just because they’re strong and not going to be taken advantage of or talked to sideways. Congratulations to Candance on the birth of her son. And to Carlos do and be better, I expected you to be better with your production of these shows, but I guess as long as you can get the ratings you need, you’ll throw anybody under the bus, even your own or people you promise to show in a better light. IJS

  7. Don’t forget about the lady who said Carlos stole Messy Mondays from her. He pretends to support black women but it’s unwise to trust him.

  8. Everybody can’t be lying about Carlos…it’s just interesting to me that he doesn’t pull this stuff with men. I guess he knows who to play with.
