K. Michelle initially revealed that she had an abusive ex-boyfriend who is allegedly Memphitz, Toya Wright’s husband, on Love and Hip Hop Atlanta. Since then, K. has continued to tell her story through her music and numerous interviews that she has done, a story that cast mate Rasheeda began to question, voicing to K. that she thought Memphitz didn’t abuse her. Despite whether or not people believe her accusations of him, K. Michelle has continued to publicly fight against domestic violence by doing a PSA and speaking to young women from the “Saving Our Daughters” organization. Recently, K. Michelle was asked her opinion about the recent domestic dispute that occurred between Chad Johnson and Evelyn Lozada by Global Grind. And K. responded by saying that she felt sorry for both Chad and Evelyn and that she regrets not pressing charges against Memphitz, commending Evelyn for going to the police:
“I just feel like it’s a very delicate situation, just like with my situation, no one was there with them. We don’t know what happened. We don’t know anything about it. And I think that media, as well as the Twitter people and the outside world, are so quick to judge and take sides on the situation.
It’s sad to see a black man lose his job. It’s sad on his part. It’s sad on her part. As a woman, you never want to have to go through that. I think that’s something very traumatic for any woman to have to go through.
Evelyn is such a beautiful woman that a lot of girls look up to. I’m very proud of her for taking a stance and walking away, because I feel like I was so in love at the time when the police came to my rescue, I should’ve moved forward with charges and [I should’ve done] what I needed to do. So, I think it’s very commendable on her part. At the same time it’s a tragic situation for both parties.”
K. also said that people shouldn’t judge Evelyn based off of how she acts on ‘Basketball Wives’ because they are only seeing one side of her and truly don’t know what type of person that Evelyn, or she is, off camera:
“I think it’s really crazy that people can watch you on TV for an hour, and you’ve been living your life forever, and put on TV for an hour, and then for you to not be sympathetic towards Evelyn or sympathetic towards me. There are different sides of every woman. Editing happens.
You don’t understand and you don’t know who K. Michelle is. You don’t understand and you don’t know who Evelyn is. You don’t know if Evelyn goes home, and she could be the most mild mannered, calm person. You just never know how that is.
To not be sympathetic to her in a time like this is absolutely ridiculous. It shows you just how evil the world is and it shows you just how real jealous the world is.”
What do you think about K. Michelle’s comments?
I’m proud of K. for putting her feelings in such a mature and eloquent way this time. And I agree with all that was said. We certainly do live in a society that is slow to believe victims and quick to believe the abusers. It’s sick actually.
Yeah editing happens, but the last time we saw Evelyn she was tossing a full wine bottle and plates at people’s heads. She’s a violent person and editing didn’t create that. She did. And because of that, people are going to be leery of believing that she is a victim.
K. Michelle definitely should have pressed charges, especially with everyone and their momma trying to call her a liar. But everyone needs to give Evelyn some respect for actually walking away from someone who got physical with her. Not many women have that kind of strength, and that’s something people need to acknowledge.
k michelle didn’t report the abuse not because she was in love or scared it was because it didnt really happen. She didnt want to get in trouble by filing a false report. If the police came to the location where the incident happened and talked to u and even if u decided not to press charges and they just said ok and drove off and your a– was beat the way you alleged it was beat PLEASE!!!! i would love to talk to the captain of that police department. K claims she was sooooo in love thats why she didnt say anything DAMN THAT!!!!! she didnt say anything because it never happened.
