Nicki Minaj is Worried About Album Sales After Stores Refuse to Sell Album

Nicki Minaj usually doesn’t have to worry about album sales. But unfortunately for the female rapper and Young Money superstar, her current album Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded The Re-Up (an album that features many Mariah Carey disses) has her feeling a little uncertain about album sales. One of the issues about Nicki’s current album is that it is a re-release, and re-releases generally don’t sell a lot of units. And although Nicki does have a rather large and dedicated fan base of Barbies and Kens, a lot of retailers still aren’t convinced that the album will perform. So instead of taking any chances, some of the big time retailers are refusing to even sell the album at their locations. And this has Nicki Minaj, the usually confident Pop star, feeling quite uneasy and very concerned about album sales.

In a recent interview with Power 105’s The Breakfast Club, Nicki Minaj explains the awkward situation she’s facing with retailers refusing to sell her album. And this is what she says is setting her up to fail.

She says:

“It’s hard to get the album because the stores basically said that the last few re-releases they had put out did not do well, and they didn’t want to take a chance. So Target and Wal-Mart is not selling the album, and Target is actually my biggest retailer. They’ve always been my biggest retailer. So they sold the most Nicki Minaj albums ever. So thank you Target, but I wish you could have sold this one. Best Buy only took limited because they were like, ‘We want to play it safe.’ It sets you up to fail. But at the end of the day, I’m happy to put the album out.”

And if that isn’t bad enough, according to the latest gossip, Nicki was denied entry to her own Album Release party by the NYPD.

A source tells Radar Online:

“Nicki turned up to the club with about 25 people at 3:30 in the morning. She wanted to celebrate with her fans, but she was denied entry at the door by the police because they said the venue was at capacity and there was nothing they could do to accommodate her. Nicki wasn’t happy about it, so she and her group just left.”

  1. Honestly, this is what she gets for doing a re-release. She needs to do a new full album and get away from this Pink Friday crap. It just makes her look lazy and corny.

  2. Can’t blame anyone but herself. Why the hell did she do a re-release?! Stop being lazy and give your fans a new album concept.

  3. Not sure why she put out the same album with a few new songs and expected it to work. That was pretty arrogant of her.

  4. i agree with the stores. I don’t think this album is going to perform well. But hopefully this will encourage her to stop the Pink Friday crap and do something innovative the next time. But Happy Thanksgiving y’all!

      1. I’m a Nicki fan but my screen name isn’t for that, it’s actually for the dorm I stayed in while I attended college. I attended NC A&T State University. Just thought I’d educate you on something. #AggiePride! And Happy Holidays to you and yours.

        1. Wait, I didn’t know your name didn’t have to do with Nicki either. Wow. You learn something new every day. Happy Thanksgiving hon.

  5. In my opinion, Nicki is a terrible artist. She’s a GROWN woman dressing up like a BARBIE DOLL and wearing wigs. Smh. She just needs to give up, and go to art school.
