Lupe Fiasco is clearly one of the most outspoken rappers of today and he has shown on numerous occasions that he is passionate about the many shootings involving the youth in Chicago. He’s also taken the time to actually put the work in to make a change, but we’re assuming somewhere down the line he got discouraged because just moments after the verdict for the Trayvon Martin/George Zimmerman Trial was read, the rapper took to his Twitter account to vent and then announced he’s given up on black people. He tweets:

Half y’all been partying to Black Death for the past 2 decades…the other half watched the party…don’t be angry now!

Rub your face in it! Swallow down that hard pill! Black blood spills in the streets of America nightly at the hands other blacks

Chickens have come home to roost!

Yeah gimme that anger…once again that rage…that misguided angst when you true enemy is your own complacency and cowardice.

Curse kick scream yell tweet unfollow. Don’t matter to me if y’all don’t start valuing yourselves N*GGERS will be in the same boat tomorrow

Nobody knows what really happened except trayvon and Zimmerman. The justice system relies on reasonable doubt not our emotions.

The case should have never been televised as the potential to antagonize US race relations was, in my dumb, opinion too risky & unnecessary

Your emotional reactions to a perceived injustice will get you nowhere. Organize (yeah right!) to fight total structural violence.

You asked for my opinion and there it is…anything beyond that is just RIP Trayvon and may God watch over his family especially his mother.

After he began to get dragged in his mentions, the rapper went on to tweet he’s given up on black people:

“@HoNeYBeeQB: You know it’s bad when @LupeFiasco GAVE UP ON US…SMH” I gave up on y’all a looooong time ago UNENO it…

“@KiddSiri: @LupeFiasco just broke my heart a lil. But at the same time…I don’t blame him for giving up on us.” Y’all not ready. Sorry

“@Same_Ole_B: Lead u got the platform! @LupeFiasco” The war was lost a long time ago homey. We just don’t know it yet…

  1. Lupe has always been and will always be a coward. He wants to pretend he’s some revolutionary and black people just can’t “keep up” with him, but the truth he’s a disgrace to black leaders. You never heard about MLK, Malcolm X or Rosa Parks…etc. giving up on black people. He’s a wannabe and I’m tired of him pretending.

  2. Another fake deep black person who needs to STFU. These kind of people never bring the change they b-tch about. Nope. Got too much hatred for their own race to make a difference. You can’t help black people if you hate black people.

  3. This is the time when we need to stand together and not give up. What is wrong w/Lupe this goes to show that his heart was never fully in it because when you truly believe in something you are not easily deterred. Yes I am upset about Zimmerman verdict so upset that my eyes are swollen but I won’t give up on my people this just re-energized me to do more. If anything this should strengthen the cause because now black children are being MURDERED for doing absolutely nothing. Like I said earlier one thing is for certain Trayvon young prince you will not be forgotten nor will your death be in vain. Now it is our time to fight for you and every other black and brown child the struggle continues as we fight against injustices. Sleep young prince the fight is not over!!!!

  4. He’s a fraud then. Black leaders and black people are coming together now, not giving up. No wonder he wasn’t able to make a change in Chicago. He’s weak and the young people saw he’s wasn’t serious.

  5. I just lost a lot of respect for Lupe! If he was a real leader, he wouldn’t quit before the progress is made!

  6. Meh, we don’t need leaders who look down on us anyway. Lupe’s just mad his little campaign in Chicago to stop the teen violence flopped. But if he really cared, the failure would have motivated him to take a new path. He has no heart and it shows. And for that reason, I don’t have to take him seriously when he tries to talk about injustice anymore. He’s a coward and just another complainer.

  7. He’s not as smart as he would like to think he is. The real leaders in the civil rights movement weren’t in the “giving up” business. Thank God or we would have never made any progress.

  8. I’m not hurt by this at all. I figured out a good minute ago Lupe was all talk and no action. Now that it’s gotten real, he wants to “give up” on black people. We don’t need your weak leadership anyway bruh.

  9. Lupe has always gotten on my nerves. He talks so tough like he has all the answers, but he whines about everything. He could never be a real leader or change the community. He doesn’t have what it takes and never did.

  10. I’m so sick of people complaining and saying we can’t be outraged about Trayvon because of the black on black crime. Newsflash: black on black crime happens in the ghetto! Trayvon was murdered down the street from his father’s house in a diverse neighborhood when he was minding his own business! He wasn’t in a gang or a drug dealer, nor was he in the hood! Not the same period!

  11. He said black people aren’t ready? Um so what does he really do besides rant on Twitter and get hit in the head by glowsticks at his concerts? He’s talking like he’s some activist. Please.

  12. I am so sick of this dunda head and all of his crying. When is the last time he sponsored a free clinic or a community center in Chicago? All he does is whine, but I have yet to see him do anything productive. I live and grew up in an area with successful, hard working educated black people and it annoys the hell out of me that people-especially our own, act as if this is a rarity. It’s not! Stop crying all the damn time and be a part of the solution, fat mouth lupe. Giving up on blacks means your giving up in yourself!

  13. It’s ok that he has given up on black people. It’s not the end of the world. His opinion of black people really doesn’t matter because he doesn’t know ALL black people. I know no one that listens to him anyways.

  14. People are killing me. In the midst of a high profile case that has seemingly awakened A LOT of us and imparted a desire for change and consistent contributions to the community, there are still those that would like to divert people’s attention to the negative. Ok, people have been complacent. Ok, numerous children have died and the masses did not even know about it. Ok, the usual pattern is to speak out when it’s fresh and go back to business as usual when all is said and done. Ok!!!!!! But how many times are these “leaders” and “activists” going to point that out instead of taking advantage of the people who are finally ready to get up, get out, and do something?! Deep is the new shallow, and I’m over these people.

  15. Lupe has been acting real looney and off lately… i dont really take him serious, he’s lost it for awhile ago..lol

    1. Agreed. I used to like lupe fiasco for his music, but now i have become disgusted at him. All talk and no walk. I hate him as a person. this guy lost his mind. Lost respect for him.

  16. He’s not giving up on anyone. Lupe was venting his anger and frustration with his people and I can understand that. I can also understand being angry with blacks who don’t care about all of the black kids being gunned down by their own across this nation but are want to make t-shirts and march when someone of another race kills one.

It was the wrong thing to say but I can understand where he was coming from.
