Singer Rihanna is known for controversy and she’s pretty much proven she doesn’t mind getting the bad girl label. In fact, she embraced it in her “Pour It Up” music video, as she showed off her stripper pole moves and twerked for the whole world to see. The video might be her riskiest yet, and it was banned from YouTube just ten minutes after its debut before Vevo then posted a less provocative version submitted by Rihanna’s camp. Although the singer receives a lot of backlash for her tendency to reveal quite a bit of herself on her Instagram account in photos in which she shows plenty of skin, she’s actually causing even more controversy for covering up.

Rihanna had a recent performance in Abu Dhab for her Diamonds World Tour. The singer attempted to show respect to the culture by covering up and wearing an all black jumpsuit, but she caused quite a ruckus after she actually had a photo shoot outside the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque.

The staff at the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque released a statement confirming that they did not give Rihanna permission to take the photos and they also confirmed that the superstar was asked to leave:

The singer entered the mosque in a personal capacity and without prior co-ordination. She was requested to leave after making indecent pictures which did not match the sacred status of the mosque.

The singer did not present herself to the people in charge and entered through a gate not designated for visitors. She left before entering the mosque itself after she was requested to leave.

That wasn’t the only backlash Rihanna received over the photos. Turns out when she posted a few of them to her Instagram account, she was slammed by some Muslims for penning a caption they deemed disrespectful. She posted the following photo and writes in the caption:

  1. I am not surprised. Rihanna basically cared more about how many likes she could get on Instagram than respecting someone else’s beliefs. What’s new?

  2. So I guess Rihanna didn’t realize that lady wasn’t giving her dirty looks because of what she had on, but because she couldn’t believe she was that ridiculous to take photos at a mosque like she’s doing a spread for Vogue. Lord have mercy. These celebs are not the smartest.

  3. I’m not a Muslim but I can see why they were offended. Rihanna made a photo shoot area out of a place they feel is sacred to their religion. It was tasteless, but I expect nothing less from Rihanna.

  4. Just stupid. She could have taken the photos somewhere else. My issue is Rihanna doesn’t seem to have respect for anyone, not her fans, not Muslims, not even herself. Time for her to grow up and be considerate for once in her life.

  5. She actually looks nice covered up. I bet she didn’t think that was possible. Young people tend to think naked is better for some reason.

    1. So it’s cool to disrespect the religion of others? Now just imagine if a pop star from Abu Dhabi started posing in front of a church dressed like Jesus or Mary, calling Christian women “b*tches”? Do you think you’d be over reacting if you became offended?

  6. Like we’ve said a million times on here, Rihanna seriously needs to grow up. But I’m afraid she won’t since she has millions of fans telling her that her vile actions are cute. They worship this girl and why would she want to change when so many are praising her behavior?

  7. Glad to see they shut her down real quick when she was being disrespectful and inappropriate…wish we knew how to do the same.
