R&B singer Ashanti is working diligently to make a comeback and bring back to life her music career, but she hasn’t had much success. She recently released a new single with Rick Ross entitled “I Got It,” but it didn’t leave enough of a lasting impression to get enough spins on urban radio stations.

But we’re assuming Ashanti is tired of her career being the butt of jokes and Twitter digs because she went off on one of her followers after they called the single a flop.

The whole incident started when she innocently asked her followers who they thought would win the NFC Championship game between the Seattle Seahawks and the San Francisco 49ers (read tweets from top to bottom):

It didn’t take long before people began calling her out for what they felt was an insensitive clap back:

As of now, Ashanti hasn’t responded to the criticism or offered an apology.

Do you think Ashanti was out of line or did she have the right to defend herself at all costs?

  1. This guy is a troll. All he does is troll celebs on Twitter. I’m not saying Ashanti’s response was ok but someone needed to drag this hateful idiot.

    1. Man I can’t stand this dude! I unfollowed him when I realized all he does is troll celebs all day and he says the meanest things too. Ashanti had every right to respond!

  2. Twitter is ruthless I don’t think her comments were bad but she shouldn’t have responded at all but she is a FLOP. But I have always wondered why Ashanti doesn’t get called a FLOP more often as much as people drag Ciara for being a FLOP. Ashanti is lucky she doesn’t get dragged more often because she is more of a FLOP than Ciara.

  3. Her making fun of his sexuality doesn’t change the fact that her career has been over for years. U mad Shanti?

  4. I can see why she went off. He was throwing shade that wasn’t necessary. She asked about the game he could of responded to what she asked or not say nothing at all. What she didn’t have to do was call him gay though, but when you come for people that’s not coming for you that’s what you get so oh well he got what he was looking for. And just because she called him gay does not mean she against gay people so if this little incident turn her gay fans against her then they were never really fans in the first place is how I look at it.

  5. Fake outrage. He trolled and she trolled back. What’s the problem? People really want celebs to be punching bags and take verbal abuse from strangers when they wouldn’t if they were famous.

  6. I’m gay and I’m not offended at all because no one made him come for her first. He tried it and got handled. lol

  7. I’m not going to lie, some of the other comments were way funnier than what either of them said, but Ashanti should know better. She had every right to defend herself, but it’s different when you knowingly make a joke that’s going to offend an entire group of people. She should have picked a better response. We all know how sensitive many people get when you bash gay people now. She could’ve ignored it. I’m sure she received other responses she didn’t like and there’s no way to stop trolling
