Beyonce’s Latest Album is Still Slaying

Beyonce shook up the entire music industry when she dropped her self titled album last December with no promotion or lead singles, and it was a huge risk that ultimately paid off.
Although Target opted to not sell her album in stores because they were blindsided by her releasing the album first exclusively on iTunes, Beyonce still managed to sell over 800,000 copies in the first three days and over a million in one week.
The album was the best-selling album by a female artist in 2013, but now SoundScan is claiming that even now in 2014, Beyonce’s album has sold more this year alone than any other solo artist who dropped an album in 2014.
In 2014, Beyonce has sold nearly 800,000 additional copies.
“In fact, the two performers who’ve come closest to reaching platinum-level success in 2014 actually released their albums last year. Beyonce’s self-titled artistic smash has gone on to notch 776,000 units so far this year, while Lorde’s “Pure Heroine” has pushed 754,000.”
As of now, Beyonce’s latest album is officially multi-platinum.
