Paris Jackson Explains Why She Identifies As a Black Woman + Talks Being Victim of Assault

Paris Jackson is opening up quite a bit in her interview with Rolling Stone.

Here are the highlights.

On her suicide attempt that took place in 2013:

“It was just self-hatred. [I had] low self-esteem, thinking that I couldn’t do anything right, not thinking I was worthy of living anymore.”

[Jackson added that she had been self-harming, cutting herself, managing to conceal it from her family. Some of her tattoos now cover the scars, as well as what she says are track marks from drug use. Before that, she had already attempted suicide “multiple times,” she says, with an incongruous laugh. “It was just once that it became public.”]

On being s*xually assaulted at 14:

“I don’t wanna give too many details. But it was not a good experience at all, and it was really hard for me, and, at the time, I didn’t tell anybody.”

On Michael Jackson teaching her about race:

“His number-one focus for us, besides loving us, was education. And he wasn’t like, ‘Oh, yeah, mighty Columbus came to this land!’ He was like, ‘No. He f*cking slaughtered the natives.’ He did have kind of a potty mouth. He cussed like a sailor. But he was also “very shy.”

And why she identifies as black:

“He is my father. He will always be my father. He never wasn’t, and he never will not be. People that knew him really well say they see him in me, that it’s almost scary.

“I consider myself black. [Dad] would look me in the eyes and he’d point his finger at me and he’d be like, ‘You’re black. Be proud of your roots.’ And I’d be like, ‘OK, he’s my dad, why would he lie to me?’ So I just believe what he told me. ‘Cause, to my knowledge, he’s never lied to me.”

“Most people that don’t know me call me white. I’ve got light skin and, especially since I’ve had my hair blond, I look like I was born in Finland or something.”

[She points out that it’s far from unheard of for mixed-race kids to look like her – accurately noting that her complexion and eye color are similar to the TV actor Wentworth Miller’s, who has a black dad and a white mom.]

  1. Michael is not even her biological father. But I get why she’s confused because he was never honest with those kids. Now they will never really know who they are.

  2. I don’t believe she has any black in her but I can’t blame her for wanting to believe what MJ told her. He’s her father and she has every right to believe what he said.

  3. I know people love MJ, but at some point people have to stop being delusional. Paris is not black. Her siblings are not blacks. And they are not MJ’s biological children.

  4. How do we know he is not their father?
People on here speak rumors with such certainty.
I dont BELIEVE he is the oldest two father but i wasnt there so i cant say for surw like the rest of you

  5. Man Mike’s self hate issues are the result of this. Common sense says these kids ain’t his. Before all the surgery, Mike’s features were very black. Paris is straight up white. Not even biracial, which still isn’t black. But let me go. A lot of black people will claim anyone.

  6. Why do some black people want this damn girl and his siblings to be black so damn bad? Sh-t just reeks of low self esteem to me.

    1. So to identify as black reeks of low self esteem? Well, well, well. News to me and many other black men and women.

As to whether this girl is biologically black, mixed race or white, who on this discussion forum actually knows for certain? Everyone is happy enough to insist they know that Michael Jackson was not her father but they and no one else knows for certain that he was not or indeed who was. If it was not Michael Jackson then the person might have been latino, black or part black just as easily as he could have been white. But while no one knows for certain it is daft to make sweeping statements about this girl being 100% white.

And anyway what is so shocking about her identifying as black? She was raised by a black man and after he died she was raised by her black grandmother. If she got up and insisted that she was 100% white and denounced her black father and grandmother you all would be dragging her to hell and calling her disrespectful. No way can this young girl win.

    2. paris need to know if michael wanted a black daughter, he would have one LMAO
