‘Black Ink Crew’ Recap: Sky’s Oldest Son Genesis Goes Off + Cease Makes Peace with Krystal

Donna recaps her scuffle with Maxi.

Donna tells the gang how she and Maxi got into an altercation.

“I pulled a Dutchess, yes I did.” – Donna

Donna is proud that she maced Maxi and her friend when they showed up to the shop party to confront her.

A woman named Jada comes to the shop and Walt says he hired her to be the new receptionist. When Melody asks her if she has experience, Walt says it’s 2017 and everyone knows how to use a phone.

“Alright, cool. Well it’s your first day.” – Melody

Walt says in a green screen interview that he’s attracted to Jada.

Melody asks Jada to pick up some office supplies, and locks Jada out of the shop.

“Sorry, Walt. But I do the hiring.” – Melody

This frustrates Walt.

Cease finds out he has a s*xually transmitted disease.

He goes back to the doctor to get his test results. It’s Mycoplasma Genitalium.

“This right here might end my career.” – Cease

The doctor says it’s just a urinary tract infection and it’s not something he can transmit to someone else through blood.

Cease is relieved.

When Cease walks out and gives Teddy an update, Teddy starts laughing.

“I’m not eating no more carbs. I might become a vegetarian.” – Cease

Sky flies to Texas to with her best friend Allison to meet her sons’ adoptive mother, Kandace.

She’s nervous but hopes Kandace will agree to her meeting her sons.

She’s been wanting to do this for 15 years but she’s worried her oldest son Genesis won’t be so accepting given his recent interview.

When they get to Kandace’s house, Sky nervously walks up to the door and rings the doorbell.

When Kandace and her daughter Leann open the door, they all hug tightly.

Sky sees photos of her sons from over the years. Genesis is 19 now and Des is 17.

They discuss what her sons are like, all the way down to their eating habits. Sky is happy to learn that Des plays football.

Kandace says Des that has a lot of friends and he had a pool party at their house recently.

When Sky asks if she can meet her sons, Kandace says that Des will be fine but Genesis may be a problem.

She says Genesis was fine up until he met his biological father Alton and he’s been getting in his son’s head. His feelings about Sky have changed also.

“I haven’t seen him since July.” – Kandace

She says that despite Alton’s influence, she thinks Genesis will come around once he can escape Alton’s influence.

Melody gets a surprise from Lalo, Cease wants to take a big step.

Cease updates the group and says he got some shocking news from the doctor. So he’s changing his life and focusing on his health.

He also wants to repair some of his relationships and end his beef with his baby mama.

Teddy thinks this is a bad idea since his baby mama tried to lock him up over not paying child support.

Cease hopes they can co-parent peacefully.

Melody’s boyfriend Lalo comes to the shop with flowers and tells he has a surprise for her.

He shows her a RV and he says they should live in it until they pay off her IRS debt. They can sublet their place for additional income.

Melody doesn’t think this is a good idea because they have a baby.

But Lalo is adamant that this is the way.

“I did not leave Florida and come to New York to become trailer trash.” – Melody

Although Melody isn’t happy about the idea, she’s willing to at least give it a chance since Lalo is so optimistic.

Sky meets her youngest son.

Des is on his way home from football practice and Sky is excited about meeting him. When he walks in, she gives him a huge hug.

He’s happy to see her.

This makes everyone tearful.

“Look at your nose, and look at my nose.” – Sky

“Yeah, we’re matching.” – Des

Sky and Des walk outside to have some time to talk.

Des tells her that he’s happy with his adoptive mom but he’s always wanted to meet Sky.

This causes Sky to start crying and she apologizes to him.

“I’m sorry, baby.” – Sky

Sky says that she will be consistent and make sure they have a relationship now. He says he understands why she did what she did because she was so young when she became a mother.

They say that they love each other and toss a football outside. He invites her to one of his football games. She gladly accepts the invitation.

Melody gets another challenge as the shop manager.

Back at the shop, the gang asks Melody about the RV and she says she and Lalo slept in it the previous night. She doesn’t say much more because she doesn’t want them to know about her money problems.

Alex aka the V*gina Slayer returns, and does his tattoo.

Melody says the tattoo looks terrible.

“He’s not slaying anything and I’m over him.” – Melody

Cease says they will start him out as an apprentice and Melody can watch over him since his client liked the tattoo. Plus Cease says, “He can’t be any worse than Donna.”

Donna then tells Melody to get over herself and stand by her hires. If not, Walt needs to be the manager and not her.

Sky attends Des’ football game, strikes out with Genesis.

She says she hasn’t been able to get in touch with Genesis yet, but she’s going to focus on the positive for now, which is things are going great with Des.

She notices that a lot of girls at the school seem to stan her son. This irks her.

After the game, she walks up to her son and gives him a huge hug.

“I’m literally on cloud nine.” – Sky

Kandace calls Genesis to see if she can get him to answer the phone.

He answers and tells her he’s doing good.

“Do you want to meet your mother?” – Kandace

“Um, no.” – Genesis

After they hang up, Kandace tells Sky that Genesis only said no because Alton was there. Sky starts crying.

Cease meets with his baby mama, Krystal.

He decides to meet her at a restaurant and says this is important so he can have a better relationship with their daughter.

When she gets there, she tells him to get straight to the point

He tells her he wants them to get along better for the sake of their daughter.

“She only has five years before she goes to college.” – Cease

“Okay, I’m still waiting for the three words.” – Krystal

“I’m sorry, Krystal.” – Cease

“Sorry for what?” – Krystal

“Everything.” – Cease

She accepts his apology buy gives him some ground rules. She asks that he stop cursing around their daughter and she no longer wants to be called his baby mother. She instead wants to be called the mother of his child and to be respected.

He agrees to these terms.

Sky has a terrible meeting with Genesis.

Kandace was eventually able to get in touch with Genesis and convince him to go meet Sky at a nearby restaurant.

She prays with her best friend Allison at the table before he arrives. Allison gets up from the table as Genesis enters.

When he walks in, he looks like he’s very angry.

He sits down at the table with Sky and she thanks him for coming.

She thanks him for coming and tells him that she loves him. He doesn’t want to look at her and Sky breaks down in tears.

She tells him she was in a bad point in her life when she gave him up and the TV stuff just happened for her recently. She even worked at Macy’s when ‘Black Ink Crew’ first started.

“I just got this TV sh*t. When I first landed on this TV sh*t, it wasn’t even giving me nothing like that. When I first started on TV, I was coming for lunch. I was working at Macy’s. I swear to God like…like I ain’t never had no real a*s life.” – Sky

Genesis doesn’t believe her and gets fed up.

“That’s some bullsh*t, bro.” – Genesis

He then gets up from the table and lounges at her in a fit of rage. Security intervenes before he can hit Sky, and Genesis starts fist fighting the security.

Sky is then escorted out of the restaurant by security. She cries and begs them not to hurt Genesis who continues to fight several security guards.

He then storms out the building and walks down the street yelling.

Sky is taken to a vehicle driven by production and cries uncontrollably.

  1. In my humble opinion, Genesis at times looked like he wanted to scream and cry. He has a lot of rage but he’s mostly hurt. He feels like Sky gave them up becuase she didn’t want them. To top if off, now she’s some big TV star doing so well in life while he couldn’t stay out of trouble.

    1. Exactly, that’s his birth mother. You have to understand that’s where the emotion comes from. It’s hard to be given up for adoption and living a certain way only to see your mother living better. It does something to do.
