Lawrence and Issa have a date.
The episode begins with Lawrence seated at the bar of a packed restaurant. He smiles as Issa walks in. As she smiles, she takes an embarrassing fall while she walks in. But she dusts herself off and Lawrence pulls out her chair. He gets Issa her an old favorite of Prosecco and Whiskey.
Lawrence congratulates Issa for her block party success and apologizes for being unable to attend. He had a job interview in San Francisco. As they get into their conversation, Lizzo blares from the speakers and a party begins. So they decide to leave and go to another spot. Inside their Uber Black ride, their driver asks some evasive questions and mentions they look great together. Lawrence casually mentions he bought a ring as the driver tells them they should get married.
This surprises Issa as she never knew this.
Condola contacts Lawrence.
Eventually, Issa and Lawrence make it to the restaurant, Issa remembered their favorite items to order. Things get serious when Lawrence asks what would’ve happened if they stayed together. He also asks why she cheated with Daniel. Issa said Daniel gave her attention.
She also says she was devastated when things ended. Lawrence tells Issa that he didn’t give her the attention because he felt bad about the position he was in professionally. They both realized neither one emotionally opened up to each other.
Later on, Issa heads to the bathroom, and Condola texts him. Despite things apparently ending, Condola asks to see him tonight. Lawrence replies that he is out but will hit her up later.
Lawrence and Issa continue to bond.
When they leave, they run into TSA Bae Calvin, who’s with his date Mazda. Calvin tells Lawrence he used to beat it down, embarrassing Issa. Lawrence then jokes about ending their night.
Next, they hit up the art walk Calvin told them about. While at the event, they come across an abstract painting that leads to a conversation about what makes them happy. Issa says she creates her own happiness. Lawrence says he’s happier being on a team and he’s pretty happy right now. Condola calls and Issa notices. He tells Issa they are still talking but they aren’t sure where things go.

Eventually, they leave and they head to Lawrence’s spot. Issa’s rather impressed to see how everything looks as it symbolized how much Lawrence changed. When Issa heads to the bathroom, he calls Condola back and says he can head out when he’s done. Issa overhears this and she begins to leave. But she’s not ready for the night to end and he makes her happy.
Issa and Lawrence then kiss and taking things to the bedroom. The next morning, Issa wakes up next to Lawrence joking about San Francisco. He offers to take her home but she declines since she lives a short distance away.
