Although the latest season of “American Idol” has come to an end and a winner was chosen, there’s still plenty of drama going on concerning the fate of the other three judges (Nicki Minaj, Mariah Carey, and Keith Urban) considering Randy Jackson announced recently that he would not be returning for another season. Nicki Minaj is reportedly not returning to the show and although the female rapper has not confirmed the reports, many suspect that she won’t return because it won’t be a good look for the show to keep her around. However, many at least thought that she would get on the stage and perform during the finale like her peers Mariah Carey, Keith Urban and Randy Jackson did, however, Nicki never took the stage. And according to reports, it’s because the execs at “Idol” didn’t want her to and feel that although she is a good judge, she’s just bad for the show’s brand. The Hollywood Reporter writes:

While all three of the judges — Mariah Carey, Keith Urban, and Randy Jackson — took to the American Idol stage for the Thursday night finale, Nicki Minaj remained a spectator, despite earlier reports that she would perform as well.

In a press conference with reporters, Minaj explained why: “I had already committed to the Billboard Awards for my single [‘High School’],” she explained with her signature smirk. “I wasn’t allowed to perform on Idol and Billboard.”

Or could it have been the top brass wanted to sideline the polarizing judge, who many speculate will not return next year? (When asked about judging season 13, Minaj ignored the question.)

“She’s a good judge, but bad for the brand,” said a well-placed source following the finale.

  1. If she was good enough to be a judge, she is good enough to perform. To sensor her music was stupid.

    1. I believe she didn’t perform because of her obligation to premiere on the Billboards this Sunday & NOT because they didn’t allow her. Think about it PEOPLE… she PERFORMED on IDOL LAST YEAR wearing pasties & all & they STILL asked her to be a judge. She probably was contracted to do her first ever performance of “High School” for Billboard & thats it. COME ON… You know she would have ranted about that on twitter if that was the case! As far as her being treated unfairly, I don’t think IDOL treated her unfairly at all. She was paid $12 million to sit in a chair & tell her opinion for goodness sake. NOT THATS UNFAIR! That money could have went to a million different things but whatever… Blame all the ridiculing on the MEDIA & the VIEWERS. They are the ones releasing all of these supposed stories that no one confirmed & when they released something TRUE that’s when Nicki took to twitter to call people hoes and fake & everything else under the sun. The whole panel aside from Keith got on my nerves & I’m glad that this year they had amazing talent.

  2. I wouldn’t have hired Nicki in the first place. She is overrated an is a b–ch to so many people that work behind the scenes.

  3. This was wrong on so many levels!!!! There’s numerous songs she could have performed. They snubbed her for no reason! I’m glad she’s decided to walk away!

  4. I am truly mad at Idol. I will not watch it again after how they treated Nicki this season. First this and then someone from the Idol production comes out and says Nicki was always late and rude to her fans (which is the BIGGEST lie of them all.) Wow Idol must be really desperate for attention. They really messed up this season because 16.5 Million barbz tuned in cause of Nicki and they wont be next season! Idol is SO going to be canceled! I’m gonna be watching X-Factor though!! 🙂 Also Last year when Nicki Performed she did not lip sync but Mariah was lip syncing on the finale… I’m not saying she doesn’t have talent but If you have talent and you’re ‘the best singer ever’ then why the hell would you lip sync!
