Rapper Lupe Fiasco speaks his mind on current issues and the state of politics on a regular basis. But one of his biggest concerns right now is the epidemic of teen violence in his hometown of Chicago. The violence has gotten so out of hand in the city that it’s cause nationwide debate on how to tackle the violence that has become an increasing issue with the youth. Lupe has expressed on numerous occasions that he is not happy with how President Obama has handled the matter, and he feels the president could be more involved in figuring out a solution to end the high levels of shootings amongst the teens in the city, especially since Obama claims the city as his hometown, and was a senator in Illinois for years. Lupe’s disgust with what he claims is Obama’s lack of involvement in the city’s crisis has caused him to rant on several occasions at his recent shows, and one incident even cause him to get kicked off the stage during election season.

Lupe Fiasco is very involved in doing community service, and now the rapper has decided to get involved with the Project Orange Tree initiative and use his efforts to fight teen violence in Chicago.

The project calls for people to fast and also wear orange as they miss meals to honor those that had no choice but to miss a meal because they ended up becoming victims to violence. On April 1st, he calls for supporters to wear their orange and celebrate the lives of those lost to violence.

He tweets (read from the bottom up):
