Bishop TD Jakes talks about Trayvon Martin and the comment George Zimmerman made about Trayvon’s murder being a part of “God’s plan?” Numerous figures in the Black community have spoken out on the George Zimmerman trial verdict as many were completely devastated to see Zimmerman walk away a free man after he took the life of a 17-year-old young man who had his whole life ahead of him. And although the trial is over, more things are being revealed about the jury’s deliberation process, which resulted in Zimmerman being acquitted. Juror B29 recently did an interview with Robin Roberts and said she felt George Zimmerman got away with murder. As her comments didn’t go over well with many people, the one Zimmerman made in reference to Trayvon Martin’s murder really caused outrage to surface. In a previous interview he did with FOX news, George Zimmerman said in reference to him shooting and killing 17-year-old Trayvon Martin:

“I feel that it was all God’s plan.”

People couldn’t understand how Zimmerman came to the conclusion that Trayvon Martin’s murder was all a part of God’s plan. And in an interview he did with theGrio, Bishop T.D. Jakes spoke on Zimmerman’s “God’s plan” comment and says he is troubled by Zimmerman’s logic:

“God is on the side of truth, and that’s very, very simple.

“I understand that if he deems himself to be innocent by virtue of self-defense, that he feels that God was on his side if that is his truth. I’m a little bit troubled by a guy who is older and larger attacking an innocent person and perhaps not being able to handle the person you attacked and then killing them, and invoking God over it.”

    1. Girl…the world would be a better place. It’s sick how ok him and his fans are for killing someone. And they are the first ones to call themselves Christians. Disgusting.

  1. The only peace I find in this tragedy is this is giving more awareness to racism in this country I just hate that an angel had to lose his life. When I tell y’all GZ is going to have to answer for murdering a child maybe not today or tomorrow but he will eventually get what’s coming to him and I find peace in that.

  2. Kudos to TD Jakes speaking the truth in this situation. I get disgusted when I hear Zimmerman speak about God when he doesn’t have an ounce of God in him.

  3. They like to call out blacks for us killing each other but they don’t value lives either obviously.

  4. In all honesty, what Zimmerman said has historically been the European’s attitude toward all non-whites. It was God’s will for them to exterminate countless natives while stealing their land. It was God’s will for them to take native children away from their families, place them in Christian schools and adopt them out to Christian homes. It was God’s will for them to exterminate countless Africans an enslave even countless more. It was God’s will for them to colonize all of sub-saharan Africa (excluding Ethiopia), India, the Caribbean, etc. The list goes on. For every wrong they do, it was God’s will. Given the history of this type of behavior, Z’s remarks are hardly surprising although they are still painful.
