Mama Joyce is still giving interviews in hopes to fix her image since she caught so much backlash for not being happy about her daughter Kandi Burruss’ engagement to Todd Tucker. She seems to believe Todd may be an opportunist (his mother Miss Sharon disagrees strongly), but Kandi has made it clear that she is moving forward with the wedding regardless.
Now that Mama Joyce has decided to step back and let Kandi and Todd “be great,” she’s still trying to convince the general public that she isn’t pushing her daughter to marry a rich man. In fact, she says a “working man” who makes around $60,000 a year is good enough for her daughter.
She tells Essence Magazine:
“I would say a policeman that’s a detective or a fireman that’s a lieutenant or someone that has been on the job for a long time. I wouldn’t mind if she met a working man that would be a good stepfather for Riley. If he had a good income, like say he made $60-$70,000 and he wasn’t the kind that was just there for her money and he really cared about her, I wouldn’t mind.”
She also says she just wants a man to be a “provider” for Kandi even though Kandi prefers having her own.
And when it comes to Chuck Smith, she called out the retired athlete and says she is disappointed in his onscreen behavior:
“He got on there and told the biggest lie he ever told. I was so shocked because I really liked Chuck. He was like a son to me when they were dating. I mean, his mother and father and myself all used to go out to dinners together. He took us out to Cirque du Soleil. I’ve even spent the night at Chuck’s house. Kandi had keys to his house. Would you let a jump offs mother keep your daughter over the weekend more that two times? Every time I saw him he would hug me like ‘Hey Ma, what’s up?’ He bought me my first Louis Vuitton bag. He was so in love with Kandi he would call me even after she quit him. I don’t know what made him say that. I mean it was 20 years ago. I don’t know whether he was trying to get on the show or what but I’m so disappointed in him.”
Now Mama Joyce knows good and well she would still be mad if Kandi did date a postman who made $70,000 a year. I’m not even sure who she thinks she’s fooling here.
Yeah I don’t think she will be happy until Kandi dates a man who makes more money than her.
“I would say a policeman that’s a detective or a fireman that’s a lieutenant or someone that has been on the job for a long time. I wouldn’t mind if she met a working man that would be a good stepfather for Riley. If he had a good income, like say he made $60-$70,000 and he wasn’t the kind that was just there for her money and he really cared about her, I wouldn’t mind.” —- YEAH RIGHT.
@ fashionista riley dad is a record producer he is not in her life momma joyce should have got mad then
Why is she giving interviews? lol
Didn’t she say she has a man? I think she should worry about her own relationship at this point and chill out with the interviews. She’s coming off attention whorish.
Mama Joyce is trying to do some serious damage control but it’s too late. Who cares how much a man makes as long as he treats her daughter right. Whoever told that great story yesterday about holding their husband down until he got on his feet and now they are doing bigger and better things needs to forward that story to Mama Joyce because she clearly doesn’t get it.
I read somewhere else that Mama Joyce is dating a younger man and he drives her car around Atlanta because he doesn’t have any money. Can anyone on here confirm that?
LOL whattttttt?!!!!
That’s probably true. The main ones who hate on your relationship usually have their own issues.
Kandi PLEASE come get your mama.
But why does Todd need to be a provider if Kandi is wealthy? That makes no sense. I can’t get with this old school mentality that it’s wrong for women to take care of themselves.
Don’t do it Todd. Just don’t bruh. You’re gonna have to deal with this woman until one of you dies… your luck she’ll probably outlive you. lol!
@ fashitionata momma Joyce should got mad @ Riley dad when he left kandi
