The other day Teyana Taylor rained on Porsha Williams’ parade when she threatened to take legal action on the reality star’s upcoming T-shirt line considering she believes Porsha stole the name.
Well Porsha says Teyana doesn’t legally own the word “Unbothered,” so she’s confused as to why she even try to put her on the spot on Instagram.
On the “Rickey Smiley Morning Show,” Porsha says:
“Well, you know I always remain unbothered. I always say ‘unbothered’ just like everybody else been saying unbothered, fleek and everything else on Instagram for a long time and you know, like she said in her comment. I do follow Tatiana or whatever. I follow a lot of ppl that are in entertainment.
“I try to support you know a lot of young black women out here doing it in music. I do follow her but I had no idea she had a clothing line. And I really don’t have a problem with her having a clothing line named ‘unbothered’ because my t-shirt is just a t-shirt line. It’s not an actual clothing line. And I just wish Tatiana would have consulted her legal team; if she would really have been unbothered because then she would have known that she can’t trademark the name, the word unbothered anyway.
“So I just thought it was a little distasteful for her to put a comment on Instagram, as opposed to DM’ing me. She could have just DM’ed me….I just thought it got blown way out of portion.”
Porsha goes on to say she has no beef with Teyana and she wishes her the best.

In related news, Porsha also got Teyana together on Instagram. Apparently after Teyana posted proof of her registering “Unbothered” as a LLC to Instagram, Porsha then took to Instagram to let Teyana know that registering “Unbothered” as a business name isn’t the same thing as trademarking/owning the term (screenshot obtained by The Shade Room):
Teyana has since removed the letter from her Instagram account. Bloop.
Teyana wanted to play with the adults and got her little behind schooled. This ain’t the old Porsha, this 2015 version got divorced, got a backbone and has a lawyer on retainer. Cynthia should really take notes.
Teyana has been seated. I can’t believe she didn’t know the difference between a LLC and a trademark. Smh.

I like Teyana I really do but she made herself look like damn fool. How are you beefing with Porsha over a name that actually can’t be trademarked for your clothing line that nobody actually knows about just keeping it real. Girl why ain’t she promoting her album her album is actually really good but nobody knows because she is too busy being petty than promoting it. Priorities boo!

All of this could have been avoided but Teyana just had to look tough on Instagram.
Porsha’s clearly unbothered cause she doesn’t even know Teyana’s name.
Teyana didn’t know this because she doesn’t have a lawyer. Sh-t she probably registered that business name all by herself too. She needs to make sure she brushes up on business practices and the law the next time she tries to make an example out of somebody.

Oh goodness see that’s why you need to always know what you’re talking about before you try to embarrass someone. In the end, Teyana is the one with egg on her face, not Porsha. And I agree how does she not know registering a LLC is not the same thing as registering a trademark? That business 101. How are you going to run a business and not even know the basics?
